I'm about to make a PT for which I'll use a HS65MG as a tilt servo and a GWS S125 1T 2BB as a pan servo. I'm going to make the PT along the same method as workshops excellent servo-killer-mount: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1373666

However since the pan servo arm is in nylon I need a good glue to make a good durable bond between it and the aluminium frame (see picture). The tilt servo has an aluminium arm and is glued and attached as per workshops guide using JB Weld and steel pins (or M2-screws). I will also use screws to attach the pan servo arm to the aluminium frame but I'd like to use a glue as well.

Any ideas?

Thats what I was thinking too. You dont want the glue getting loose and suddenly your cams facing straight down at the ground. If you really want to use a glue then try epoxy. Hard stuff to work with but very strong.

As I wrote I will use both glue and screws, not just glue. I was thinking of using 4 M2 screws, the holes are shown in the model. The glue is an extra bond but maybe it's uneccessary?

In theory, epoxy glu is ok for aluminum, but ideally aluminium surface should be prepared :

If I was boopido I wouldent be using glue at all, two screws on the servo horn with loctite on should be fine.

For the most part, nothing sticks to solid nylon. Just screws will work fine.

Thanks for your input guys. I think this PT will be quite nice. It's intended to be mounted underneath (embedded in the fuselage) either a Skywalker or a custom built delta wing. It will pan +/-180° and tilt +/- 90°. The tilt servo is used to rotate the camera from inside to outside the fuselage.

+1, if you are cool and have a tig

Or just screws and loctite as was mentioned. Adheasives with Nylon is a no, no. This resistance to chemicals is one of its main attributes.

If you were in the states I would tell you to send the parts to me and Ill tig them. Bet you can find someone local to do if for you if you look.

Only the top mount is nylon but not possible to replace as I haven't found a compatible aluminum arm for the GWS servo. The tilt arm is aluminium and will be epoxied with JB Weld and M2-screws which I think will be sufficient. I do have a the possibility to TIG weld doesn't that risk to warp the construction due to heat? These parts are very small after all.

Just FYI, epoxy forms a mechanical bond. So if you form little pockets for the epoxy to grab, it'll "stick". It would be like forming dovetails or similar, into which the epoxy will mold itself.

The rougher the surface, the better. As long as it doesn't compromise the structure.

It's very important to avoid disturbing the bond until it's thoroughly cured.

The screws will definitely do the trick. The epoxy will help make it that much more secure.

My plan is to glue the epoxy and servo arm and when it's cured I'll drill some holes for the screws and apply a little more epoxy around the screws. That should make for a really durable mount. If only I could find a aluminium servo arm for the GWS S125 servo.
