Made it out to Lone Star Lumberyard... 47 sheets of 1/16 X 4 and 1/16 X 6... for $61.53...

And then went out to I-35E and FM 407 and saw Tim... AKA Lacquerhead... good to finally meet you! Sorry Don couldn't make it. I also saw David Clark, a former Amarilloite... and lots of other Dallas guys... and then took 2 hours to get back through traffic because I'm a loser and didn't ask the best way to go...

Here's a hint the next time you're in Big D. What ever route Google Maps tells you to take, don't. Go around everything it tells you and you'll be golden! At least it sure seems that way to me.... <hrumph>

I'm gonna be done with the build threads for a while. It eats so much time, especially if you have a slow connection... which I do... I plan to build every evening that I'm home until I have all of these models done... and my original Hawk restored. I may post a progress pic once in a while, but that's probably gonna be it... Greetings 1/2 wingspan fans...

Time for another installment on the continuing saga of the Duet...

I guess I can say that I'm finished with the frame-up phase and it's time to go into the finishing phase. I have the canopy roughed in and the empennage fitted. Since there isn't much but sanding and hinging for the empennage, I'll just post a couple of pics for guidance.

The forward fuselage is roughed in and the wing bolt is in and lined up...

She's starting to look really nice... and slippery...

IF ever a frame cried out for transparent covering. this is it. Looks like Mark has produced a winner so far. Well done, sir.
Now, will the weather in your neck of the woods allow a maiden before next May?

Images View all Images in thread Views: 142 Pretty straight to start with, but it does need a bit of checking and tweeking... Views: 131 Sanded and hinged, but not attached, yet... Views: 123 In order to be sure absolutely sure about how straight it is, I'll join the stab and fin permanently and then jig everything up to check for straight, and decalage... Views: 127 Tapered and hinged... ready to cover...
