From all the guys on fpv forum, it's apparently unpredictable. Sometimes ot has horrible range, and sometimes great range. And it's like playing with fire.

Also it's bound to get interference too since its not freq hop

the dx6i is a frequency hopper. that is what dsm2 means and hence the reason you need to bind it.

No. That's what DSMX does and why it's superior to DSM2. DSM2 does NOT hop. New DX6i transmitters are DSMX, as is the new generation of receivers (AR6210 etc.)

All 2.4 spread spectrum radios need to be bound, whether frequency hopping or not. Binding is simply having the receiver learn the unique ID number of the transmitter (and model memory for ModelMatch radios) so it only responds to that one.

For standard systems, range is less a function of the transmitter than the receiver.

DSM2 is not hopping but only gets interference under rare circumstances. It's not "bound to". Four years and no problems for me.
