I'm a bit disappointed. Using 60A esc & 2200mAh 4S 40C lipo I'm only getting about 40A and 450watts. Is that enough to fly this plane (with no modifications, so stock AUW)?

Thanks,
Simon
You better upgrade it to get at least 650 watts, Tayphoon 2W20/HET-70mm fan will give you at least that, J.

This is all the footage my Darl managed out of 3 min flight in 30mph wind, landing was something on very narrow strip of sand as the tide was coming in. J.

OK, so I swapped to motor for another EDF motor that I had at home. I put in the HobbyKing 3200kV 2836 and got some better numbers:

585watts at 40A max.

I'll giv that a try before I order anything else. Thanks for your help & suggestions.

what kind of foam is everybody using to mod this kit? I just received mine the other day, and in good conscience I cant fly it in its current rendition! I'm gonna mod it to the GR7 as well I'm thinking. Anyway, the blue foam...is it the blue insulation foam from the home improvement stores? as well, what glue is compatible with it? Any help greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob, I think it's the same as what's used in building insulation. I just searched for 'blue foam on UK eBay and was able to order it already cut into 10mm slices. For fixing it to the existing foam I used 5 minute epoxy. Don't forget to post pictures as you go, I'd love to see another 'proper' Harrier flying

George,

The brand name is styrofoam, it can be glued with PU glue (gorilla) , epoxy, or ordinary woodglue, you will have to check the foam of the Harrier too.

So this bird has been coming available at the NL based warehouse for around 70 Euro. I've been dragging myself away from the desk where my computer is for a couple of times now, it's the only way to prevent me pushing that "buy" button

Cheers

Crashed mine once after about 15 flights, and not all that hard either. Totalled the nose, tore a huge chunk out of the underside and generally looked prettty sad I found it rather fragile, but no worse than my He 162 Starmax. Built a new nose out of coreflute to keep her flying, and plan to make a "proper one" at some stage. I covered it in clear packing tape, which helped totally, and put bi directional tape on the belly. So far so good....

I'd say yours will be a good bit more powerful than mine.
Mine was my first edf, so I didn't have any specialist equipment for measuring current draw, power etc. I didn't even measure the thrust, I just used the motor and fan that Hobbyking suggested, and hoped that it would fly!!!
