I'm looking to step up from my EPP LeadFeather Edge 540. I love the way it flies, but I'm looking for something that will take the wind a little better.

What kind of winds will the Addiction handle before your doing more fighting than flying? And I assume since the Extra 260 weighs a little more and has a larger motor it will take the wind better.

P.S. Sorry if this question has been asked numerious times. I tried searching for this question and didn't find it.

first, i believe it is the extra 260. and if you are looking for something that handles wind well, the PA planes IMO are not it. they are the lightest planes in their class, which is not good for wind. I had an addiction and it didnt handle wind well at all. of course this is purely my opinion and im sure people out there will have their own opinions

I agree with birk, I had a PA Extra 260 and didn't like it for the wind, or for much really. I'm sure birk and I would recommend another companies planes much more.

And I'm not lookin to fly in 20+mph winds. Maybe around 10-15 without too much of a problem.

well, i can tell you anything about 5-10 with my addiction was pushing it. from what ive seen the extra isnt much better. just my 2cents

I had the PA 260 and it was a great flying airplane...until the tail ripped off in a blender. To be fair I was a lot heavier since I wasn't running the recommended setup but still, it ripped clean off. My other sore spot with them is that at least for the motor it's a pain to use anything other than their motors.

I don't want to bash them too much though, I'd definitely buy another PA plane, I would just expect it to be flown differently than lets say a 3DHS plane.

Sorry to get off topic, my vote goes for the 260. I've seen addictions fly in roughly 10mph winds and while they handled it, it wasn't the prettiest thing in the world. Also I feel that with the Addiction you can almost get the same flying characteristics out of a good foamie. The 260 also looks better, but that's my own personal opinion.

Do the 3DHS planes fly any better in the wind?

Sorry these balsa planes are a whole new arena for me. I've been flying a lot of the UM and UMX planes for the last 2.5 yrs. BTW, I love 'em. Nothing easier than throwin a few UM's in the trunk and hitting the local park at a moments notice.

I'd ideally like something that could handle 10-15 without much problem, and still fit in my hatchback along with 3 or more UM's.

In my experience the 3DHS planes do fly better all around.

The PA Extra 260 has a 48" wingspan vs the Addiction with just 39.5". You might do better to compare the Extra to an Addiction X with a 50" wingspan. I've never flown the Extra 260 or Addiction, but my Addiction X does amazing things in the wind! Will it deliver IMAC precision? No. Will it deliver tons of 3D fun? Definately. Love flying my AddyX in the wind just to see it do things few other planes can.

The PA 260 is an awesome plane!!! mine has over 1000 flights, of HARD 3Din and tumbling..... and NOTHING has been replaced apart from a set of wheels!

The more and more I look at the planes, I think I'm probably gonna have to go with the 3DHS 41" Edge.

While I ideally would like to go with a more floaty plane, the PA's. I also want it to withstand some wind, from vids I've seen on the net it looks like the Edge has the edge. Plus the 41" Edge is more the size I'd like to go with, and a little bit cheaper.

Now if 3DHS would just finish up their move so I can get my hands on one.

That's a good choice, you won't be disappointed in the floatiness w/ the Edge. Make sure to buy a ton of packs because you're not going to want to stop flying it!

I highly recommend the 42 slick over the 41 edge.

Great choice, another thing is that 3dhs customer service is some of the best out there.
