VTOL Christmas tree.... I think SR71 fan beat all of us to many of these flying oddities , and with his superior flying skills was able to Hover them in a closet ... Quite remarkable really !!!
Happy Christmas !!!

21 in version build

Hey Dave , here is the 21" version I cut out the parts on my
"PhlatPrinter3" from the PhlatBoyz.com. I made a jig so I could build on to for proper alinement.
Still need to finish, this is 1/4" fan fold / blue core, span 21" and I used
fiberglass tape on the leading edge and wing joints. Almost done. Hope the angles are right.....
Thanks again Dave!!

110 under and up the middle of the model 135 on top for each tip.... yours looks good

The jig idea is good...I wish I'd thought of it... I was forever measuring , trimming and adjusting before gluing.. I needed a few pairs of hands....

Has anyone tried mounting a ducted fan under the center section? It would look and sound cool, but I suppose thrust wouldn't be adequate for aerobatics.

Jim R...
...none too aerobatic himself

I am not a great fan of fans... they are best for fast jet types.. The W is a slow to moderate speed flier and performs best with a high thrust setup..using bigger props..

Use a similar setup to what is used on the Nutball and you wont go wrong

We had 6 in + snow last night so it was ideal to try out the floats I made for the W wing KFm4 heart shape... They are velcro'd on using two strips below the wing...

Nice, but too cold for me..The model is going great.. unfortunately the camera cut me short, missed the hovering and more chuck about antics..
Now I need a defrost... Brrrr.... roll on summer...

If you like Nutballs this is better.. I had been trying to make a model that has the fun factor of the NB but with improved roll and inverted... this does it.. but its a more complicated build...
.
Here is another video of the W wing heart.. I hadnt flown this for a while so its nice to re evaluate its performance...
This is one of my best.. stable but maneuverable.. it is super

Dave:

Your 'W' wing only has one more bend than a NB and with Blindflight's jig it should be a snap to build. It's on my list as soon as I get back to building.

At least here, the added weight of the skiis are not a problem.........no snow. Although, I did love to fly off the frozen lakes before I moved out here.
