So based on the experience here so far, two 4000 or 5000s would be too much battery huh?

I have trouble stuffing a 4s 3000mah battery in so anything bigger than this is not gunna work but then it depends on the physical size rather than the capacity. It think the CG would be too difficult to control with a heavier battery as well, she is already a handful to land if you don't have the luxury of a large field.

My ELITE 3200 4s just fits between the formers, its velcroed in on 2 sides, and the CG is a couple mm in front of the 90 point, I would rather it was back at 95mm so will add some lead under the tailpipe in the back, it lands too hot with the forward CG and elevator is sluggish. Might be able to move the Rx back into the fuse further but it weighs 2/10 of bugger all

I am thinking about putting an ARC 28-47-2 and 8S in this plane. That's the setup I put in my E-flite sabre and it was pretty insane (1400 watts). I could get about 4 minutes of flight out of two 4S x 2450's.

I used a tam shroud. I think the shorter can arc needs it (or something else with a metal center body) at this wattage.

On the plus side, for the watts, it's a pretty light setup. You can also use a CC Ice-50 controller.

I run the 2848-1 on 4400 4s packs and its at 1400w / 2kg thrust as well, I would guess my AUW is slightly lower than a pair of 2500mah 4s packs in series.

Mine is running in the stock wemo fan no problem in my Sapac Hawk, hikes along and has really made the model.

For the first time today, I flew the Komet under the supervision of Extreme_RC. The plane's response felt precise and more than enough power for straight-up vertical (at only ~850 watts). Even at 1/3 throttle it would cover a lot of sky, so it's without a doubt an efficient air frame when it comes to aerodynamics.

Yup the vertical is awesome on this model with the 2W18 setup, really amazed me at how strong it climbs out, hopefully Dale got some good video today.

Here's a video of the Komet in action. ExtremeRC is at the sticks and i'm the one launching. As you can see it flies really nice. However unlike the prop'd version, this one has a bit more character, as it flies with a nice 'woosh' of the wemotec rather than that high-pitched sound of a 4-5" prop spinning at 30k+ RPM.

HET Me-163 Komet EDF (3 min 5 sec)

Hi Guys,

I need some help here.

From the picture, it seems like my Komet's inlet duct came slanted resulting in gap between my edf and the inlet duct. Is it okay that I just use a tape to cover the gap?

As for the battery, do you unscrew the edf unit each time you need to swap battery?

I would try to heat up the end of the duct carefully and then push the fan in to reshape it and close the gap as much as possible. Or remove the duct and epoxy it back in straight. This is the first one I have seen with a wonky duct, should not have left the factory like that but its a bit late when you are sitting in the workshop with it! Is your dealer local? maybe take it back and see if they can do anything.

Our battery is in permanent, but yes it can be removed quite easily just by undoing the 2 screws holding the fan and sliding the whole assembly back, thats why I set the ESC into the top of the duct, it can all be moved around inside the fuse in one piece.

Only needs 3-4mm of up on the control surfaces to set the reflex correctly, and we actually added 15g of lead into the tail last weekend to move the CG back a little, made a huge difference to the response of the elevator. I believe our CG is now at 90mm.

Mine fly's great at 90mm. Ailerons D/R at 60% Exp -60% Elevator D/R at 70% Exp -40% on my Futaba 10CAG. Aileron rolls are excellent, barrel rolls are large at full throttle. Slowly increasing elevator throws. Love this plane.

anyone got any photos of mounting the servos in the wings if you dont have the mount kit
