T-Rex 600E pro servo install question

Hello all, making my conversion over to helos from boats and trucks. I just bought a T-rex 600E pro kit to compliment a highly modified nitro pro I bought from a friend of mine (still haven't flown due to learning to fly). A question on servo installation and more specifically, the elevator servo in the metal mounting bracket. All of the Align servos have a small ridge between the mounting screw holes, so the screws and servo plate do not sit flush on the servo ears, there is a small gap. Is this right? It doesn't seem to move, but it just doesn't look right. Then it tells me to use machine screws on the outside of the metal frame and self tapping screws on the inside of the same metal servo frame. Both sides have machined threads, so why would it tell me to put self tapping screws? It gives me enough machine screws to go around. I broke out the nitro pro and it's nothing like the electric. Thanks.

First, the screw you need to mount the servo into the metal servo mount is not self tapping but rather the socket button head screw.

Finally, to get the servo plate to sit flat against the servo, you either: (1) cut away the "small ridge," or (2) enlarge the cut out in the servo plate. Most of us just trim away the ridge.

Aren't there rubber mounting grommets for the servo?

I used them, just thought it looked weird. I reseated the servo plates and it looks better.
