Well now than I'm finished with V8's pilot I finally had some time to work on my cockpit for my new "Obsession" Mustang. Inspired by BrandX and the Outstanding work he did with his... I Had to follow in his footsteps.

Here are pictures of the re-done cockpit. The inside surface is 1/64 styrene so that the sun won't turn the EPO to lizard bumps, and the railing is Styrene I-Beams. The rest is gadgets, gizmos, and wire found in my "Stuff"

Yeah I know, but since he mentioned Hobby King I didn't think he was just referring to the 1700 mm Mustang.

That's so sweet looking cockpit. After seeing yours looks like I'll have to spend a lil more time getting mine up to par for Mr. Man-O-man!

Yeah, he may be confused on which version he's looking for? I just assumed, being how he's on this thread, he was referring to the 1700?

Wow! Brandon, you have outdone yourself on that cockpit! Where do you get those detail graphics like "Push To Unlock Canopy" etc? And just to clarify, since I have a KV 300 motor I do not need the prop mod? I have already done the mod but it is obviously easy to undo. There have been some prop issues with the Mod/300 combo? I have been too busy to get mine finished yet but I have some time at the end of the month and she should be airborne! My Moon Flight Training Graduate pilot says he's getting restless...

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks Aaron, with that motor I don't think you really need the prop mod. I've actually been trying to stay away from doing that inlight of recent prop disasters with these props...though I did do it on my FF Mustang and it seems to be holding up fine and working, but that one has the 270kv motor. I Have now returned it back to stock configuration for safety concerns. It's not so bad with the mustang, but the P-47 and Corsair have been problematic in that concern. But the prop and hub on those two are much different than the Mustang mounted on the spinner.

The Graphics I ordered for Calie-Gragphics and had her do them custom for this plane a few of them are left over decals I had from a sheet of Major decals I've had from years past

Aaron im still using the prop mod on my 300kv motor been doing it since the day I got her back in may and no problems what so ever. However safety is always a concern and 1st priority so if you feel unsafe then be safe rather than sorry.

I've gone threw about 4 broken props and they do not have the air bubble problem that the P47 or corsair have. So they seem better built and safe. Or was lucky on the batches I got...

Who has the FMS 1450 V7 and the 1700V2 or V3? The largest bird I have is a 1400 and I want a P-51, but not sure if I should pick up the 1450 or 1700?

jk6672,

I have had the V6 1400mm and the V2 1700mm FMS P-51s and they are both among the best foam airplanes available. One significant difference is the ease of transport. The 1700mm plane requires a bigger vehicle, especially if you want to keep it assembled. I have concerns about removing the wing from the 1700mm plane on a frequent basis. You have to open the inner main gear doors and make the multi connector connections each time and while the foam is relatively resilient, over time I think that it does compress a bit. I glued the wing and tail on my 1400mm plane permanently and found it to be more robust. That is not really needed on the 1700mm plane but, with the wing on it takes a big vehicle. The 1700mm plane, as most big planes are, is more stable and moves through the air better especially in windy conditions. They both fly really well for foam planes. So, to me it comes down to portability.

Aaron

I would sit here for hours going through all these threads. I'm wondering what motor guys are putting in the kit version with a carbon fiber prop, and also is there a thread # that I can read about installing the eflight retracts? Thanks

Here's the link to the mod, however BM has a video demonstrating the mod in more detail.
