Ferocious Frankie Video
Finally I´ve finished my video.
I used several perspectives after seeing Brandons vids and also copied his mounting ideas by using a thermoplastic resin which is beeing used in the dental industry (i´m a dental technician) to fabricate protections against teeth grinding. Thank you very much Brandon for the inspiration. I also did the V8 Prop Mod, thanks for that really great tweak, V8. Further I installed four 1 Watt LEDs instead of the machine guns. Filmed with a #11Keycam with a FishEye lens and a Panasonic HD camera.

Folks I asked BH CS last week if the replacement Wings for the FMS 1700 Mustang that they offer were V2 and the CS rep seemed a bit confused I guess and origionally told me they were V1, but today they answered my written communication to them about this and responded with this.....so I thought I would share it incase any body else is also looking to by a replacement set and has the same questions I had about them being a V2 wing and what they include....Yes they are V2 as you can see by the photos they sent me and Yes they do include the added spar and retract mount with outer door fairing

IMO, after just getting home and thoroughly going over the new Red Tails" Mustang and already having the "Ferocious Frankie" Mustang it is by far obvious that the "Red Tails" is a much better and Quality Aircraft. and includes extras that did not come with the Frankie version.
extras and differences noted: 1, came with extra ribbon cable for the wing connection 2, Came with more extra hardware for all control horns and major component mounting, plus mounting flanges in the horizontal and vertical stabs are of a more dense plastic material with metal blind nuts. 3, Main spar joiner for the wings is Aluminum and pre-bent with Dihedral 4, servos came with twice the amount of extra control horns 5, twice the amount of rubber cement included 6, Packaging and protective foam wrapping of components was much more intense Haven't powered it up yet, so not sure about the big important part!!!!....RETRACTS only pit fall so far is the the pilot is not glued into the seat and is flopping around loose in the canopy hatch piece.....no biggie for me as I intend to replace it any way Crap!!....I almost hate to mod this one as I intended...it's so dang!!! Gorgious!!! and welll molded and painted. |

here is a picture of the Main wing joiner spar. The small CF black one for the leading edge joined is the same on both versions
They are not interchangeable, as the recieving tube on the main wings is located in different locations on the wing between the two different versions. the Frankie version recieving tubes on the wings are mounted higher on the wing halves than the Red Tails version which is mounted Dead center on the wing and directly in the middle of the wing thickness and angled upward toward the wing tips (Dihedral) |

Not sure if it's an upgrade or what? the spar tube is actually shorter as you can see from the posted photo....but it's definately different? Bad thing is ...you can't use this from one livery to the other....

I'm not so sure the new one is stronger. Like you said, it's shorter. However the BAD thing I see is that it's bent for the dihedral. Once the tube is bent, all the strenth of the tube is gone!!! I can see that spar bending & failing way before the strait glass rod.
I sure hope I'm wrong. I hope they test flew it as hard as they could. |
