hmm... well looks like I just ordered one of those sound systems.. Very cool and cheap for what do they do compared to the Bendini. Only issue is the limited engine sounds..

Power System

I am an engineering consultant and therefore I have often been accused of analysis paralysis (over analyze). As such I am still analyzing the power system for my R3.

My primary system is the Scorpion 4035-380kv with a 6S 5100mah battery and Castle Creations 100Amp ICE ESC.

As a secondary system, I could use a Scorpion 4020-790kv with a 4S 5000mah battery with the same ESC. This system would limit my flight time to about 5 minutes (with throttle management) and draw about 90 amps! Although I could drop about a pound of weight, I don't think I like the high current and short flight time.

Attached are the motor data charts for each setup.

Yes it does look quite high. I don't remember it being so high but number do not lie ! I can put it on the data logger and provide hard numbers

Please put one of your flight results on the data logger. I would interested to see how your system performs.

I saw your other thread and you mentioned that you moved the CG back to get better flying characteristics. Could you check to see exactly where you have the CG set?

Sorry for all the questions but you are the only one that has posted success with an electric power system.

Motor Mount

I put my Aerostar Commander build project on hold and started on my Gee Bee. I only removed the parts from the box to have a look. I noticed that you have to build the motor box that is used for electric power. No instructions, but it seems straight forward. Did anyone use the electric motor mount that came with the kit?

No, I just used standoffs from a duel sky standoff kit - I went with this as it was an " off the shelf adjustable ( within the limits i needed ) package that worked well. It is still just a little to much spacing between spinner plate and cowling end but nothing that I cant live with.

Let me know if you need my process i used... G
