Extreme Flight 88" Edge 540T Electric - Maiden and 2nd Flight Videos

My friend Rob maidened his Extreme Flight 88" Edge 540T today at our club field. Below is the setup, along with videos of the two flights and some photos. Doesn't my 72" 3DHS Extra 330SC (8S powered) look small compared to the 88" Edge ? Anyway, what a great flying airplane! We love the large electrics!

Setup -

- Hacker A80-10 180 kV Motor
- Mejzlik 26 x 15E Carbon Prop
- Castle Creations 160A HV ESC
- 2 x Sky Lipo 2S 1300mAh lipos (connected direct to receiver)
- Spektrum AR9110 Receiver
- Hitec HS-7950TH Servos x 4
- 4 x Sky Lipo 5S 4400mAh 40C lipos (10S 8800mAh)
- JR 11X Transmitter

Weights -

- Airframe without lipos - 16.65 lbs.
- Lipos - 5.05 lbs.
- AUW - 21.72 lbs.

Power, Current, Voltage at WOT -

- 4423 Watts
- 117.5 Amps
- 37.64 Volts (3.764 Volts per Cell)

Power Loading - 203.64 Watts/lb.

Maiden Flight - Electric Powered Extreme Flight 88" Edge 540T - September 3, 2011 (5 min 20 sec)

looks great!

that seems like a ton of battery? lots of people are flying the 89 slick on 12s 5000. I would imagine you could push your flight times to ten minutes almost?

Thanks. My friend Rob spoke to Kyle at Aero Model who recommended a 10S setup between 6000 - 10000mAh for the 88" Edge using the Hacker A80-10 motor. Yes, flight times should be around the 8 - 10 min. range.

how is the balance? looks like the packs are right against the wing tube.

Balance

Balance required 2 clicks of elevator trim. Notice the (2) 1300 mah Batteries behind the wing tube.

what I was really after was, how does it respond to the 45 inverted upline test? sink, climb, stay the same?

Yes...the balance was neutral on the 45 degree test, as well as just rolling to inverted...no elevator required.
