After this experience I will make sure to have fire extinguisher always on hand! Yesterday just prior too take off, fire initiated in my ESC with two large 6S packs only few inches from it. But then again when you play with the gadgets concealing programmable printed circuitry in very confined spaces with 100+ amp currents the things can go wrong. Even the full size airliners fall off the sky from time to time killing hundreds of people due to similar failures, Joe.

Don't panic Guys, it was not CC, Joe.

Relax, airliners are designed to 1 in 1x10^9 probability of critical system failure. Slightly better than our ESCs!

I had a similar incident with a Schulze XL40.160, it happened about 2 mins after connection but in my case it was right next to me so I managed to get the packs out. Feel for your loss, I had a plane that looked a bit like that.

What's going on? All of a sudden i'm seeing fires. Yes there were issues back in the early days of lipo, till everyone got used to the limitations and characteristics of the lipo world. THIS seems to be something else again. I guess i'm setting things up on the test bench and really giving it a workout before installing in my current project. a HV-120 was slated but i may install an older HV-110 i have sitting around.
