Sorry, the good deal (it was used however) auction has ended at eBay, however, here is a brand new one from a respected eBay supplier with FREE SHIPPING!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Hobbico-...-/390330420800

I would go to the local hobby shop and gives you a chance to inspect the model before buying not that the one up at eBay has anything wrong with it.

Good Luck!
Carlos

Thanks, looks like the price is comparable or close-enough to LHS, the LHS will probably get my business unless mfr has a good coupon for a direct purchase.

Well, Santa delivered a nice new watt meter for Christmas so I can now choose a prop with a bit more certainty that I am not going to blow things up.

I have also been thinking that the power 25 1250kv might be a bit better for this plane than the 870kv one that I am using.

I am also planing on putting navigation and landing lights on it but have decided to make them myself.

I will post some updates soon.

Hi all!!
Today I have fit together all the components received in the past days.

The new Fusion 3545/05 compared in size with the stock one.

The propulsion system as fitted onboard:

I have also ascertain that the installation of a motor 35mm dia x 45 mm depth don't needs modifications to the foam because there is enough clearance (about 0,8 mm) in depth.

Through the hole near the centre of image it's possible to see the Esc. Due of its lenght this is the only possible position without doing any modifications to the foam structure.

For the thrust tests I'm thinking to buy also a dynamometer like this:

20g-40kg-Portable-Spring-Electronic-Digital-Hand-Hook-Scale

Now I am going to install the stock prop, modified to fit the new 5mm shaft, before the final balancing of the model.

Wow, look at that big motor, lol.

I've been a little nervous about flying for a month and it has been cold, wet, windy. I flew 4 planes and 4 nice flights today in 7mph wind. The Sensei was one of them , it was cool.

I had just moved the C/G back a lot and it still acts a bit nose heavy. I think I'm going to try removing the weights w/out removing the cowl and then re-trim the elevator.

I still run 2 packs and can't imagine using just one , lol. Still on low rates , but getting a lot more comfortable with it. Funny , even though I can see that it is underpowered I get along fine with it so far.

Merry Christmas , guys.

Looks good!

Though be prepared to replace the motor mount... I did pretty much the same as you and found the motor mount couldn't take it.... The foam got weak and the firewall/mount got loose.

So at least make sure your prop is perfectly balanced.

That motor mount is definitely a weak link.....I have had to remove the cowl about 5 times and re bend the mount back. I got fed up with this and a buddy made a plate that goes on the outside of it and welded it. Also strengthened the legs (i guess that is what you call them). Yes it added some weight, but definitely worth it.

The same weather here. It's not a cold winter after all, but the weather changes totally day by day and is difficult to plan a fly with acceptable conditions.

Very difficult operation without removing the cowl, in my opinion, because the weights are hard glued with silicone and is uncomfortable to work only through the small lower air intake.
Believe me: the cowl removing it's not a arduous operation and is the open door for more enjoyable modifications.

I wish you Merry Christmas.

I agree with you, guys!
I think it's possible to do something about these problems.
- a sturdy steel made 2 mm thick motor mount (now is 1.4mm), heavier but more appropriate for powerful motors.
- a strip of glass fiber electronic circuit board, located in the battery room and linked to the original firewall by 4 longer screws, instead of original ones. In this mode we can take advantage adding the solidity of the battery wall.
Tomorrow I'll do a check.

Yeah, do the check!
In my case it wasn't the mount itself (that was solid enough), it was the firewall the mount was attached to. This firewall is locked up in foam. but vibrations weakened the foam. The fact that my prop wasn't balanced, probably didnt help though.
