So guys, if i understand correctly, the new version G-OSD is actually ready to use with home arrow and all the data (speed, altitude above home, voltages, RSSI) ?

Note: RSSI voltage has to be ripple free. I had to flatten the signal of my 2G4 receiver with a opamp and capacitor to get a flat voltage, otherwise I had values jumping all around.
I think you could do that filter in the µP, but an analog filter is probably better.
I haven't tested with a real rssi signal yet.

Yes, but my last commit is untested and have some bugs that Parity have found.
So you might want to use his version until I can get a new board working.

It's a bit complicated, as callelj cannot test at the moment, and I kinda developed a own branch based on release 29.
The version I do have on my G-OSD (the hex file i put in this thread) works with all the features. RSSI works, but it is fitted to my receiver. Other receivers could need adjustments. I do not display Batt2, as I do not need it, but it works fine too.
No known bugs at the moment, so I would say it is ready to test-flight it.
I HAVE NOT FLOWN IT YET. Only driven around in the car with it.

I feel better with a opamp in between, as internal resistance is like 100 megaOhm, compared to 100k of the G-OSD. I heard some storys of bad RC-range if RSSI pin gets pulled down to far, and it already drops by 15% on the 100k ohm.

Parity: Ok, then an op-amp is better! Good info btw.

I got my e-osd + GPS working today with latest revision.

I had some problem programming the eeprom with my avr mkII clone but with the usbasp it worked right away!

See image below for proof:

Parity: Thanks!
I took me a while to figure out how to draw it. (Maybe i'm just slow )
I like how it uses the full diameter of the circle, and the arrow of course.

that looks great ! but i think its much better to put the home arrow in the center of the picture (preferabely close to the top) as its a bit more confusing when its on the right side.

just my 2 cents.

Very well, thanks.
How about the different screen layout as discussed before ? can it be done ? something like the attached picture...

If somebody can do this im ready to buy a G-OSDE for my Funjet !

Or can i use my E-OSD with just a GPS module ? if so whats a good source for such a module ? (i do already have a E-OSD at hand).

Just throwing another idea in the thread here, but how about a home built current sensor for one of these ?

all it should take is a shunt resistor (pretty cheap) and then a multiplier in the software of one of the voltage readings.

for example if you choose a shunt resistor of 50 mOhms, thats 0.050 ohm, then for a 0.05V drop the current is 1A and for 0.5V the current is 10A and for 5V the current is 100A.

Question is, whats the resolution that the G-OSD can measure voltage inside the uC ? does anybody know that ?

i3dm: I will work on the layout but it won't be exactly as in your image.

A current sensor could be added but lets focus on getting the current features working first.

I have only tested the GPS module from G-OSD with the E-OSD so I don't know a good source...

Thank you callelj ! any ETA on the new screen layout ?

about the current sensor, i was thinking about something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shunt-Resist...item45fcec114b

lets say we want current displayed resolution of 0.1A up to 50A. this means that the voltage measurement of the G-OSD would have to be 0-0.75mV in 500 incriments, so it should measure at a resolution of about 0.15mV - can you varify if the G-OSD could do this ?

You can set the reference-voltage on the ADC - but normally you use 5 volt. Atmega uses a 10-bit ADC, so you will read 0-5 volt as 0-1024 (A resolution of approx 4.882812500 mV).

You will need (preferably) an opamp or something like INA169 to amplify the signal from the resistor.
