i3dm: I like your design but there are some limitations in my design that prevents me from implementing your design exactly. These are the limitations:

1. Text lines cannot be too close together (about 25 lines between at least)
2. Text size only comes in two sizes. The large one 16x16 (as in image) and one half the size 8x8. (Can also do 8x16 or 16x8 but looks harder to read.)
3. Graphics (the "arrow home") cannot be on the same line as text lines

patricklupo: I Have moved the arrow to the side after seeing Parity's design.
Yes the arrow home should work but so far only tested in my apartment.

I thought about taking a ride on my bike with the gps and a small screen and see if I can find my way home using the gps. My girlfriend thought that she should drive me far away blindfolded and see if I find my way home. But I think that is a bit too extreme.

Can you try to do it as close as possible to my design and post a screen shot ?

calle you have the chance to be a robocop. Put the goggles on your eyes, and stick the camera on the goggles ... and you will have the possibility to see the road and osd information as well

Hehe, true! I have thought about that before. Might have to realize that some day...

We may need to look at this "FIX" : "BAD" thing again.
I always had "FIX" as long as the GPS-Antenna was connected. I am pretty sure that it was when I was without GPS-signal too.

Ok, I will have a look at it. Might be an error.
The GPS module will blink when it has no fix and be solid if it has a fix.
(If I don't remember wrong.)

Also I haven't added a fallback to BAD when GPS fix goes from good to bad.
Just realized that the other day. :-)
Some delay before actually going to bad would be required I think since you could get a bad fix and then a good one. Or do you want the full update resolution?

I can't test right now, but try to connect the GPS module and power up the system. Will you see, FIX or BAD?

When its searching you get "int" and it blinks. Then you get "fix" and the led goes solid. Once I get the initial "fix" in never goes back to "int" and starts blinking again.

We are talking about cl-osd, not g-osd. cl-osd does never display "IND".

Parity: Checked it now and you are correct. After looking at the code I see that fix isn't really fix but instead checksum ok. Hehe. Will fix that.
Btw: Stop finding bugs in my code.

I suggest not declaring home at the first fis, something like the 20th fix is a lot better.

The gps gives very bad fixes while tunning, the first fix can be VERY bad.

I built a test platform today and took the G-OSD out for a walk.
But I could not get a good fix (only 4 sats) so the position was jumping around +-300 meters.
Has anyone else had problems with aquiring a good fix?
I will make a new attempt tomorrow but right now it's a bit dark here.

Btw: I think it was a good idea not to test this yesterday since must have looked like a terrorist with blinking and wires all over.
