Can someone tell me the difference between the f3c and soft3d settings of this unit?

Btw, I just installed the helicox unit. Its same as this one, same menus and settings. Just my program box have a cool blue backlight.

If you follow the steps in the manual, setup process can be simple. And its important to set servo type before plug them or you may fry some fresh servos (I fried one, ROFL).

I' ve set in beginner mode. Arms movements are pretty soft. I bet this setting will be a coaxial 6ch heli. ROFL. I will change that as soon i maiden this unit.

I didn't find cyclic range too, but I read somewhere theses units, as vbars, don't work that way and we need to forget about cyclic degrees and think about gains and agility. Lot of info to learn. Btw, I am having 12 degrees on cyclic (damn, need to forget that, old habit).

I don't know if I am right, but that does not mean you will have a ultra cyclic uncontrollable berserker mode heli, but the unit, in my case, will have like 12 degrees to keep up the settings straight as programed. I don't know how to clearly explain that, my english sux.

Just one note:
Apparently D/R on tx did not change anything on arms movements.
Any ideas?

Thank you and GREAT TOPIC.

NICE FLIGHT VIDEOS!

Hi. The difference between F3C and soft 3D is the F3C tail has less acceleration and a softer hold and the cyclic is more like beginner with slightly more agility.

My understanding is the blue backlight displays do not work well in the sunlight. Can you confirm this?

Re the cyclic range, see my post in the ZYX thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=46

So DR will affect cyclic in flight, but not on the ground. With 12 degrees of collective range, try starting with 80% DR and see how it goes for you.

Thanks. Really nice job on that build.

How do you find the speed of those ES08MA servos? I have some ES08MD's coming.

I have both here, MA and MD

MA: 1.8~2kg - 0.12/0.10
MD: 2~2.4kg - 0.10/0.08

Using the program box servo test the MA version is doing 0.7~0.8, but no load on it. MD gave me 0.7 always.

Frame is from a Storm 450 carbon flybarless
Electronics are ramdon. I picked the ones I know are good for a reasonable price. Its not a expensive setup, but suppose to be good enough for sport flying.

Motor is a leopard, 3500kv.

Emax cyclic servo (very good for its price, all metal and fast)

3g gyro is a helicox, same as this ALZRC

I use walkera 8ch 2801 pro tx/rx (very good in my opinion - I also have a v450d01)

Tail servo is a must have. Its same as the v450d01 tail servo: WK-2601H:
Torque: 4.8V:28.0 oz-in (2.02 kg-cm)
Speed: 4.8V:0.08 sec/60

Main Blades are HD320D 325D 3G Carbon Fiber
Tail Blades are 3k carbon ones.

Used Align HOLDTITE Anaerobics Retainer

Gyro pad is Align K10457A PU Adhesive Gel - Looks good and seems to be better than regular ones...

As soon I test this setup with this new gyro i will post feedback.

I have a tail blade question for you.

Did you follow the manual and setup the tail pitch to be approximately 8? Or did u use less pitch?

No I didn't. I always use roughly center of pitch slider, which on the 450 Pro is close to zero pitch.

That's not to say it might be better if it was set to 8 degrees, but it seems to work fine for me so far.

Looks like a nice servo.

I've been running some tests on the Fitec FS9357:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1278171

I like that it can run above 5 volts like the DS520, and has more torque than the DS520. And it only weighs 25g (not the 27g stated in the link above). Seems like a very good servo so far, for the price ($16.90 shipped).
