I just found this new ALZRC 3GY FBL (flybarless) System on HK-Parts site:

It says it's coming soon. Looks like lots of settings, including individual setting of P, I & D (PID = Proportional Integral Derivative) for tail and cyclic (most tail gyros use a PID system but usually a single gain for all three).

Seems to fly really nicely. Could this be the low cost FBL system we have all been waiting for?

Enabling the advance tuning menus
Hold the BACK button when plugging in the programmer box, or powering on the helicopter with the program box connected. Keep the button held until "Basic menu" is displayed (see the below menu picture). I hold the skid with my fingers and have my thumb on the back button, while I plug in the programmer to the helicopter. You can also plug the data cable into the helicopter first, power on the helicopter and Tx, and then while holding the programmer box with the BACK button held, plug the data cable into the programmer. See the advance menu defaults attached below.

Note: Only using these menus as a last resort. Most helicopters will fly well without changing anything in these menus.

Programmer features:
* Servo tester
* Battery voltage monitor

3GYS features:
* Size: 38.2mm x 26.2mm x 13mm
* Voltage: 3.5 to 9 volts
* Weight: 26g including cables

* Can be mounted on the side of the frame

Note: The battery only needs to be connected to the programmer for voltage monitoring and servo testing. The Rx/3GYS power is used for programming the 3GYS gyro.

Don't do servo testing using a battery connected to the balance port (like in the supplied pictures below), unless you are testing high voltage servos. The full voltage of the battery is presented to the servo power. For 5 and 6 volt testing connect a 5 to 6 volt battery/BEC/supply to the servo power socket, under the servo socket.

There is also another one from KDS which appears to be a copy of the Vbar.

The main reason holding back the Chinese is the software. They are still a bit weak on the software side. Any change to one axis affects the other two and you need good programming to smooth it out. The CopterX version does not perform well and we will have to wait for reports on this one.

When the Chinese have mastered the technology to make a cheap effective FBL system, the days of the 90 degrees flybar helicopter will be truely over.

Yes, I've been watching the progress of the KDS Ebar.

I think the Chinese are quite capable of doing this, but you are right that it requires a very good programmer to achieve something that will work well. I have faith that ALZRC will not release something that doesn't work well. Everything they are bringing out, at the moment, is such good quality.

I'll be ordering one, when it's available, so I'll be able to let everyone know how well it works, especially compared to the 3G and 3GX, which I currently have.

Although it may be low cost, you need something as simple to set up as the BeastX in order for FBL to gain complete market acceptance. With a system like, it will probably take hours to set up at the flying field. This is no way an inexperienced person can do it on his own.

I see the ALZRC 3GYS has a model save feature. As long as they provide or install preset settings for common models, this will allow a good start point. Currently I think they will focus on it working with their 450 Pro and Sport.

This is the same direction Align is heading in with their 3GX, but unfortunately they didn't preload the different models with settings that actually work.

They give full access to the P.I.D. parameter, omg..!! I wish very good luck for an inexperimented user wich know nothing about P.I.D. controller.

It sounds like '' this is too comlicated for us to preadjust the unit, we leave it at the customer trying to do it'' loll..!!

However, if that unit is good quality with good base programming, that's a very well thing for experimented people with P.I.D. to tune the controller.

You cannot mess with these values like you want, they are to be tuned in an order, and you have to know very well what each value does and what their limit is.

I wonder which system is it modeled after? Is it the Vbar?

If I made a guess, it would be beastX, but Skookum uses the programming box.

One thing I've found with FBL systems is that you can't have enough settings. You don't have to play with them all to start with. Let's say the heli flies pretty good but further down the track someone finds out that setting the P a bit higher in cyclic makes it fly even better, you can then go and change it, even if you have no idea what it does.

I don't think it is the BeastX, this is even harder to set up than the Align 3G. The BeastX is supposed to be easier to set up than the Align 3G.

I have the KDS Ebar and based on the settings and the programmer, it's definitely not a re-badged KDS unit. The gyro unit is also smaller than the Ebar. Hopefully I'll have more info soon...
