Let me start by thanking everyone at the Scale Sailboats forum for all their help and inspiration over the last year. And cheers to the good folks at Indy Admirals, our local r/c club.
I pondered the idea of getting into the r/c hobby for a long time. In October of 2010 I finally decided to pull the trigger. The project I chose was a scratch build of the HMS Beagle in 1:36. After eight months of research and building, and more than a few setbacks, my Beagle finally made her maiden voyage on July 2, 2011.
There's still a lot to be done, but thanks to all the helpful advice I've gotten from the experienced and talented people here, I'm confident she'll eventually reach the point that I originally envisioned for her.
You can follow the build log here at the forum: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1362756 or at my own website: http://www.andrewaasmith.com/HMSBeagle/Intro.php.
