A few guys got that flapping hinge head from copterx and said you didn't even need electronic help to fly with it. So it must be good. Plus parts support. I had one on order for my CH-53 when it first came out, but after three weeks of it showing on hold I asked for my money back. It's been out for at least 2-3 years

Hi Mhills51,

Thanks for your reply,

I'm considering this head and when I hear your commends it looks good
The only downside are, its not scale at all for a Apache but I can take of the top plate I assume.

After I have the new tail driven system from Kin this will be the next step

Hello all,

Back to the build,

Regarding the new tail drive unit I ordered by Kin I need to make room in the tail where now the belt drive frame are located.

I did not glue the hole frame unit in the tail but I did glue the frame itself so it will not pass the opening

So I took my mototool (Dremel) and make incisions in the tail in that way I can fold them open a bit so the complete tail frame can pass

And here it go's,

And here she is undamaged and the tail needs a little epoxy to repair.

So the Apache is ready to receive the new tail unit.

Kin tells my that he send the unit this week so I'm wondering how all will fit inside this fuselage and how it will perform..

By the way I have ordered the four blades X-Copter head also.

Now some nice scale blades

Regards,

Hi Jan,

Just ordered the new tail yesterday but things are going slow here because of other projects which have to go flying this month. Hope to pick it up within now and a few weeks. I'll post some pictures.

Hello,

I have ordered the CopterX fourblade head and I received it two days ago.

And I put it together yesterday and I like the quality of the head, the ball ends are not good they are to hard and scatter in pieces when you try to insert the rods, so I have used Align ball end instead.
But thats the only problem besides there is no manual ether.

But I'm very happy with this head and its big in comparison with a stock two blades head.

Some photo's,

Its now waiting on my upgraded Helicommand Rigid from Germany and I need to order some scale blades.

Hi Bone,

About the head you have PM,

About the tail, well I have mailed Kin today about the status maybe he have send them already but maybe not.

And his mail response time is not that fast anymore. It was really great.
We know he is incredible busy, but answering his e-mail gives his customers trust and the feeling that when you order something there, it will be alright.
We as "Old" customers know him but the possible new clients don't.

But in Smartmodels case there is a tread about them/him with more than 3000 comments and 244.233 hits, read it and you will know who Kin is.

Smartmodels has proven his selves several times in my case so the Tail unit will come, no problem.

Just my two cents.

Kind regards,

Jan,

Hi all,

I have the tail gear now so let the game begin.

The first impression of the tail unit are very good.

But when I put in the frame and tried to get the angle right in the back of
the tail, I noticed that the angle of the gear isn't enough to get the tail rotor on the right spot.

So I grind the holes where you fix the angle a hole lot Werther.

Now I can get the angle right

And the total setup and its big.

Because the main frame is tilted fore over for 5 degree I must move the frame 20mm to the aft, needed to get the main rotor mast leaving the fuselage at the right spot.

So I moved the back of the frame up.

Now I need also to grind some wood of the bulkhead inside the fuselage,

But now the frame fits,

To align and fix the 5degree gear I take out a part of the top off the fuselage for doing this,

In the tail i used the old bulkhead,

To support the tail boom,

I also used the old wooden frame to support the tail unit,

Will be continued,

Regards,

Ok!! I will be the butthead here. wouldn't that middle gear need a thrust bearing? I mean you have not one but two gears forcing down upon it.
