Nice! I fly with a Flysky 6 channel... Works ok, but I hate having to connect it to a computer to program it... Love my DX6i though!

Yeah, the sticks are bb and adjustable. Feels real nice too, this DX6i I'm sorta using feels...well, I want my DX8 back, lol. That DX6i also has a lurchy up elevator making things weird...uneven pot that shows up in travel vs. commanded % looking at FBL software monitoring. I think that was like that since new. One of the reasons I upgraded to the 8

The DX8 warranty for this problem is pretty much moot, it also falls under a recall program for aileron issues, which it fails the 'official' test also, so it should be taken care of. They even sent a shipping label to send it in.

While I'm bashing the DX6...man I hate how you have to turn off throttle hold to turn the radio on...and I'm so spoiled with the 8's auto-start timer also. Dont think I'll convert any more birds to it in the meantime.

Finally received my 700mm blades , I got the FG to test the concept . In the middle of balancing them and then will move on to the flight testing to see how well everything turned out.

On an off topic note a couple of days back I was at the field flying the 500E an might a fellow flier with a Logo 600 , long story short I got to fly it and was very impressed. It was running on 12s and was FBL with a V-bar and had a Scorpion motor, it was set up to fly 3D but was very manageable with no bad habits.

Got a short test flight in and to my surprise everything works great , I was worried about my motor and ESC not being up to snuff to swing the larger 700mm blades. I measuredthe temps on the batteries , ESC, and motor after a 7 minute flight of FF and hovering mostly hovering testing the tail workability but everything was cool . Temps were as follows ESC=112.8` F , motor=102.4` F , batteries= 114.0` F and the batteries were at almost the same voltage as with the 600mm blades for the same amount of time, hhmmmm.

The one thing I have noticed is that I will probably need to install larger dia. linkage rods and balllinks as I noticed the tracking seemed to change about 1/4" at the blade tips from flight to flight. I don't think that is to big of a deal though and I think I will change the tailrotor gearbox to an Align all plastic to help with the CG as well. All in all if one is looking to make their 600 into a 700 this mod is well worth a look as it is now a proven mod not just an ideal any more.

Got some new parts in after checking around at fuselages I found that my distance from the mainshaft to tailshaft was way to long (980mm). All the 700 fuselages I found would accept a distance of 910-940mm from main to tail shaft , so I needed to lose 40-70mm in tailboom length. After looking high and low for a belt that would get me in that range I came across Polybelts.com http://shop.polybelt.com/main.sc they have a large inventory and great prices.

I also besides changing the boom length plan on a few upgrades , to help on the CG I plan on installing a plastic tail drive gearbox and blade grip . On the top side I plan on installing Align 600 linkage rods (1.95mm vs HK's 1.75mm)and ball links and their 70* rubber dampeners to fix the tracking issue. I also got a couple pair of Fusuno 95mm tail blade to try although the 85mm Swift tail blades held it very good before, here is some pics to check-out.

After going some measuring it looks like the 700XL belt is the winner , it will put my main to tail shaft distance at 925mm.

Anyone with a stock Align 700 that could give me a good measurement along the tailboom from mainshaft to tailshaft to confirm this number that would be great.

Does this belt require that the tail drive gear be shaved?

Yes , the one I used is 1.5mm wider then a stock T-600 belt .

This is done very easily with a cordless drill clamped to your bench and a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel, oh and a steady hand.

Tail length fixed

I ended up cutting 50mm off the tailboom and going with the 700XL belt for a mainshaft to tailshaft distance of 930mm . I also saved 60grs in weight by changing the metaltail gearbox and tail blade grips to plastic that should really help on the CG.

Canopy

Wanted a new look to the big old girl so I thought I would give her old blah canopy a makeover, I know it's not scale now but it's all leading up to that in time.

I started by wipeing it all down with rubbing alcohol , then brushing on some Dively's Liquid Masking Film over the windscreen area. Next sprayed it with Testers enamel yellow from a rattle can , after it cured out I than sprayed the cobalt blue from my airbrush. After a day I removed the masking film under warm water and dryed , installed RedBull decals and called it done.

Painted head

Finally got my head painted up , I think it looks a lot better in black. I went all though the head piece by piece and only found 1 bad bearing in one of the washout arms , replaced it and got things put back to gether . Now just waiting for the weather to clear up to give it a test flight and see how the new boom length and parts all work. I am interested to see if the Align gray rubber dampeners fixed the tracking problem too , as before the tracking would not stay fixed with the soft HK stock dampeners in the head. Untill the weather clears up and more testing can be done , here is some pics to tide you over.
