Tiger Moth Never gets old!

Hi, I just placed an order today for an unpainted TM. What are the paint schmes that you guys know of? This is my second one the first one was allready painted,This one will be different... I am going to run a lipo 950 mah batt HS-50 servoes gws reciver and a gws 100 esc. How long do you think i can fly with that batt? I have a funtana s 40 with a hacker setup. And after a long 30 min flight you just want to sit back and realise just how easy and graceful the Tiger Moth realy is. I will keep you updated on the build and mods that i will do to it, speaking of mods do you know of any. And I am putting a sterable tail wheel on it and i cant figure out to make it of. I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED

Do a search here for the TM, and you will get all kinds of color scheme ideas:

http://www.airliners.net/

As for mods, just search this forum for 'tiger moth mods' (and other keyword variations) and you will get more than a night's reading. Including how to make a steerable tail wheel.

Good luck,
David J.

A good place to find paint schemes is www.airliners.net do a search for DH-82

Check out this thread for details of mods I made to my second moth. It was unpainted and I left the wings and tail white and only painted the fuse. Tailwheel is on page 7.

Here's a thread with a couple of tailwheel mods.

and an old one,

This was my favorite scheme

This is probably not what you are looking for and certainly not scale but my 14 yr daughter, who took her first solo about 2 weeks ago, painted her plane like this. She has flourescent pink wings and tail feathers and the fuselage is bright patriotic blue. The cowl and prop are black and she has the head of a small doll with gogles and flight cap attached with velcro into the cockpit. The cockpit is black with the paper instrument panels applied. Not my choice of colors but the plane is sweet and she gets lots of compliments on it. The bonus is it is very bright and easy to see in low light as it almost glows.
So be creative and design your own theme. Either way it will be great.
HAPPY FLYING!!!

I just used a piece of the scap foam the tail feathers came in and taped them on with with Scotch red vinyl tape.

Also used the same scrap to make cockpit side panels.

WOW! That first shot by the lighthouse is so good that I was going to ask how you managed to get your TM so hight AND photograph it from that angle; nice work!

You can reinforce the struts with ply or balsa glued to the sides, it can be sanded to an airfoil shape to look better. I used thin .040 carbon fiber rods CA'd to the leading and trailing edges of the outer struts. None were needed on the inners.

You can see the black rods on the struts in the flying wire diagram on page 6 of the thread posted above:

The landing gear pics are also in the same thread on pages 1, 2, & 3:
