EzOSD or RVOSD 5 ?

I'm coming from the EzOSD, which was basically plug and play.
Setup and Menu were so basic and easy and I loved that feature,
but it had everything I needed except RTH (return to home) and
stabilization mode.

How hard is it to install and setup the Range Video OSD-5, compared
to the Immersion EzOSD?

I want to get rid of the FY-20a (version 2) so I can make space on my plane.
....I know the RVOSD-5 has a built in stabilization mode already.
and the RTH is a huge plus....but I'am sort of hesitant in setup for RTH

I'm going to put it in a Cularis 2.5m and/or SkyWalker.

Thank you all....

As long as you can follow the instruction set for RVOSD5 you will have no problems. They really do RTH straight out of the box. Alex has sweated blood develping the code for the G5, and its continually being fine tuned and improved. The device has a really simple setup wizard which will walk you through configuring the module to your plane, and the default settings will work. When you become comfortable with the menus you can tweak it to your own tastes. There are LOTS of these devices out there, and a really experienced customer base to help with queries. Alex the developer provides very patient customer support (stupid questions answered)

No, Alex is the electrical engineer/designer behind the RVOSD. Vova is the owner of Range Video.

RVOSD is pretty amazing , yer starting up is a little frustrating , but i guess its like that with most FPV stuff.

little things , like you use your gimble sticks to navigate thru the menu, i sat flippin switches till i was blue in the face and couldnt figure out why i couldnt page thru the menu, till i bumped the aileron stick, DUH !

RTH works as advertised , pretty impressed with it

RVOSD works RTH.

Tried ET. Too hard. RVOSD all the way, it saved my plane several times.

EZ OSD looks great. But if want RTH, i'd go with what the others say...

I would descibe myself as an "intermediate" level FPV pilot, with time spent out to about 2 miles as well as time spent below the treeline with the Zephyr. The manual and complexity (as a result of the capabilty) of the RVOSD5 was intimidating to me. That being said, it is VERY much a plug and play system as far as the OSD.

My venture into the autopilot features (waypoint nav and RTH) will be slow and measured, but the OSD is AMAZING and very simple to install and setup.

Description: Here's the simple install in a .40 size electric Sig Rascal. The hardest part was finding the red velcro to color coordinate with the circuit board ;) . The spare connections are for pitch, power, and roll input/output.

Cheers!
