x5 flying wing from bevrc.com (maiden video on page 1)
Ordered one on June 26th and just got it delivered this morning from bevrc.com This is going to be my ''beater'' so keep in mind this is for pure fun, not duration/long range flights
Box came in dented pretty bad on one corner and girlfriend signed it anyways
...all resulting in a crooked/bent right wing...but there's not much to worry about, I've seen far worst
Pretty impressed with the molding and EPO's quality. There is lots of room for all FPV gear and big lipo pack (in above picture it's a 3s 5000mah 40c/80c)
Hardware that came with the plane is pretty much useless and incomplete so I'm going to use my own. Didn't even bother taking pictures of the bag.
Repairing the damaged wing was easy but time consuming. Manage to staight it up pretty good and decided to install carbon fiber ribbons on top / bottom to stiffen the wings:
Glued the motor mount with gorilla foaming glue:
Notice the top screws do have 3 washers to give the motor some angle as per website build log:
The nose of the plane was molded so you can fit your fpv cam nice and clean:
Some foam trimming might be necessary so you don't see the nose's sides but this should be an easy task:
Setup will be as follow:
Turnigy PLUSH 40A ESC
Turnigy C3530 1700kv outrunner
APC 7x5 prop
3s 5000mah 40c/80c pack
Sony 1/3 cam or RCV922 (have both so will try them)
Lawmate 500mW vtx either 1.2 or 2.4 GHz (have both also so need to try)
HK battery monitor osd
More to follow soon !

Ready for its maiden flight
Ready for its maiden flight! AUW is 2lbs 6.2oz including all FPV gear and a fat 3s 5000mah 40c/80c pack. I'm going to test some 3000mah also.
Here are the numbers the wattups came up with the actual setup:
prop 7x5: 26.46A and 290.7 W
I know, it's an orange rx for now but maiden flights are always done with out fpv gear, I'll put dummy weights to save my gear in case of bad crash lol and put back if successful

What was the reason of propulsion choice, do you intend to fly this so fast? This is a setup for +110kmph speed... not exactly what I expected for this whale shaped lady...

HAhahahah good idea!!

So here it is!! I must say that my expectations were not too big on this one and will admit that I was really surprise on how well this plane performs once balanced and trimmed properly. Be careful, this plane requires very little travel on the elevons.
It just feels solid and almost on rails. I guess the extra reinforcements I did has to do for a lot. Cannot wait to put my FPV gear in this one. All I can say is go get one!

Wow Saucisse ! this really looks promising !
what duration did you get out of that flight ? what were the amps consumed ?
It looks like this has a varied range speed, I bet it would glide just as well

Good stuff there Saucisse. Shame about the damage.
Mine arrived yesterday. No damage.
Only six days from BEVRC to the UK and no duty to pay.
I'm looking at building mine a bit lighter and slower.
Wanted it on a 2200 to 3000mah 3S pack running at 300watts max.
Do you recon that is possible or does it need a brick up the frount?
