Awesome! What else is planned in the series?
Will they be offering a "combo" kit.
Have they thought about offering a PNP version,
or at least offering all the components from them.

Could you put together a "Prefered" shopping list of all the components you mention above, and a source for purchase.

I'm liking this ! Looks like it'll probably work with gear I already own (A HUGE Plus!). You say SkyWing is planning a series around this size. Maybe a MXS 39-40 in the works? I'd love to see that!

Build Log?

I can't find a really involved build log on a Skywing plane. What level of completion do they come in? e.g. Are the wings pre-beveled, spar grooves cut, etc. Also, being EPP, are people using Welder's cement for the build (my preference for EPP)? Thanks for any input.

EZGlider, these planes dont need a build log if you can put together a typical ARF kit you will be fine, the plane is very easy to assemble. You spend more time putting the electronics into the plane then building it. Basically glue the tail feathers in , glue the hinges in and you ready to start installing the radio gear

I used CA on most of my Skywing MXS a few places I used PVA like the tails surfaces and its been fine. CA was used for the hinging.

Hi N_O_V8_R and EZglider,

SkyWing is focusing on manufacturing airframes. I guess it will be my task to make some combos available. I've ordered a motor and have it sent to SkyWing to verify if it fits their 39-in series. Making an airframe + motor combo is a small step towards a PNP version.

I have heard the second plane in the 39-in series will be SBach 342.

Regards,

feda

Sorry, nac. I've asked SkyWing. They have no plan to make a 48-in Edge.

Hengli Motor

Hi guys,

As I mentioned, I would source a suitable motor for this plane. Now I've found one. I sent a sample to SkyWing for testing and they were quite satisfied with the results.

The motor is from Hengli, an emerging brand from Guangdong China. The tested one is a W2834, which came in a nice-looking little metal box.

Here are the specs:
- KV 1100
- Weight 65 g
- Diameter 28.0 mm
- Length 32.6 mm
- Shaft 3.175 mm
- Internal Resistance 0.0661 ohm
- Cell No. 2-3
- Efficient Current 21A
- Max Current 26A
- Max Power (15 s) 300 W
- Propellor 1147SF

With the motor, I've made some combos with SkyWing 39-in planes available.

The motors are cheaper than DualSky's motors and I am hoping they perform similarly to DualSky ones if not better.

Regards,

feda
