Hi Guys,

I bit the bullet and just purchased the extra EXP. Got the Torque / Airboss combo with the Hitec 5245 servo's.

The kit looks beautiful - one of the best i have seen to be honest.

In my kit - I am missing the bases to the control horns - everything else is spot on.

Are these still supplied? Are these required? I don't want to install the horns if the bases are essential.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Congratulations! The new MKII motor is so awesome.

Regarding the bases, I can check mine later--I have an unbuilt extra.

They came with my edge, and with my MXS. On the MXS, I forgot to put them on. I can send them to you if I can find them, since I don't think you can get them on without cutting them if you forget.

But my MXS has been holding out no problem so far, even pulling -14.4 g's in a blender.

If I had to do it over, though, I would have used them.

**Actually, I might have put them on, but just forgot to cut the ultracote...I'll check**

Wow - quick replies thanks.

I bought the plane in Australia and therefore I have the Mark 1 Torque motor but I am sure that this will still be great.

I will contact the Aus Distrubtor that I bought it from.

Thanks

from my understanding its been hit or miss on the bases but i have been hearing a lot where they arent in the extra kits. They arent actually needed though and you are fine putting the horns in without them.

On my first extra, with the first torque (which I still have, using for my edge) I thought it was great with a 15x6 prop, even though others recommended 15x7 or 15x8, so I'm sure you will like it--I did.

Mine didn't come with them either.
You don't need them, just scour the surface and secure with 30 minute epoxy and it will be fine.

Awesome - I was hoping someone would say that, the horns look pretty meaty down the bottom - so I was hoping that they would be good as is without the plates.

just for the understanding.....what spread the load is the glue.
the further the glue goes into the wood, the more spreaded it is.
my prefered glue is uhu endfest300 (or araldite) as it is a slow curing epoxy-GLUE.
i would never go with 5min epoxy or ca, even when it works ok.

Had a pretty goofy accident yesterday - flew into a kite line. Didn't realize what happened - all of a sudden, no forward speed, won't turn, tail is pulling up. The kite line snagged the tailwheel and was pulling the tail.

Full throttle, full up elevator brought the nose up enough for a nice elevator landing - no damage other than the prop. Funnily enough, the kite stayed in the air.
