Elevator to spoileron mix

Page 27 of the manual talks about this mix. Anybody ever try it? Got videos of it?

Quote:
Another neat set-up is to try to mix the ailerons to act as spoilerons which move in conjunction with your elevator. This mix commands both ailerons to rais as the elevator raises. I typically use this mix at 100% and put it on a switch so I can turn it on when needed and inhibit it when not needed. Some folks feel this type of mix is somehow taboo. To them I say "open your mind"! Anything that enhances flight characteristics or allows me to perform maneuvers that are otherwise not possible I am totally game to try! This mix allows the most straight down dropping elevators you will ever encounter, insane walls that gain no altitude where the tail of the aircraft is basically thrown under the fuselage and the tightest KE spins I've ever seen.

I have that mix on all my EF planes. I rarely use it (the plane flies too weird), but the elevators do look good.

Maidened my EF Extra today, and liked that (I do realize the latter is not a very original statement).
Hyperion HP-Z4020-16 (virtually the same as the recommended Torque), Castle ICE75 Light, 5s4000mah, 16x8 Xoar Hyperion DS16FMD all around.

Tried it once - plane was scary as hell I guess for the better pilots no biggie...but for the guys well below them - an EF on spoilerons is funky to say the least...

N6145k, I mounted the aileron linkages on the underside, and rudder linkage on the back side of the servo arm, and I am getting max deflection with zero binding.

Thanks artic on your feedback...

regarding the mix, I just tried it in phoenix...I think I'll practice in the sim before doing it on a real plane.

I put the washer on the outside of the ball link , it is possible if the ball were to come off the link for the screw head to fit past the link , with the washer it cant come off .
The exceed proton speed control is made by hobby wing , same as the turnigy plush and many others , its bullet proof , ive toasted many a castle speed control but never a hobby wing .
Does anyone open up any of the monocoted holes in the firewall to let more air in to cool stuff ?
Mines done , maiden tomorrow , i have the elevator/flap mix set , ill let ya know how it goes , with the 4 in cg , i had to move the 4 s 4000 WAY foreward , almost needs a pull pull setup with this motor , im guessing ill move the cg a bunch ...

Rather than making more air holes, make baffling too direct the air over the ESC. That's what I did anyway.

Someone asked about the 60" Extra and cutting the Ultracote on the FW a few months ago.

The answer from Extreme Flight was leave it as is. It is designed that way and does direct more air over the ESC if mounted as suggested.

Exactly. Otherwise the airflow slows (stagnates) as it expands after entering the cowl. Go to the airport and check out the engine baffling on the Cessnas, etc. Exit area needs to be twice the inlet area for good flow.

Thanks to the folks at Extreme Flight

I had a problem last week with an ESC. Sent it in on Monday. In spite of Curtis and Chris being very busy--this is a small business, after all, with SEEF and a big sale recently completed--they were able to get the ESC back to me in time for my maiden tomorrow. (To be honest, I was hoping to maiden today, but the weather is pretty crappy...lots of rain, cold, and wind, and it wasn't going to happen anyway.)

In any event, thanks to Extreme Flight, Chris, and Curtis for the excellent customer service and for standing behind your product. Six days is outstanding, considering how far we live apart.

I wish you continued success.
