If you watch the build video, I place a small pad under the ESC to protect it from vibration, then I use two very thin straps to secure the ESC to the bottom of the motor box. I hav'nt had any issues with heat in the past, just make sure the ESC is in the airflow..

I always secure my ESC's with two Ty-Wraps and have never had an issue....I also secure the wires between the motor and ESC (I use electrical tape over the bullet connectors too) to keep them from moving and eliminate the chance of a bullet connector coming apart.

Hehe...yep, I got my shipping notice and I am pretty excited about this bad arse plane built!

Now work on getting some spares for these baby's (need wheel pants for my kids 60" Extra)

Will a 6s 2650mah battery provide enough flight time with a motrolfly 4315 480kv?

Also, would a torque 4016t-500 or motrolfly 4315-480kv be better for 6s?

Don't know about the MF motor, but I get around 6 minutes with the 3,300mah batteries on the Torque setup.

I wasn't that lucky... but anticipation is half of the excitement, right?!

I have 4 of the 3S 3000mah Turnigy Nanotech for my DW BAFoamie - those should work in series just with a slight shorter time correct? (2 to get 6s 3000mAh)

Does anybody has experience with those Nanotech lipos? - so far I am charging mine still at 1C - just to make them last a little longer... I've heard different opinions about them.

Tom, I was thinking of going with a 15 x 7 prop. Would that be to small? I heard that was a good prop for that motor.

Tom, what are the amps with 6s and 16" prop?

Well i bit the bullet today. Extreme is fairly local for me so I wend by and picked this plane up. I am pretty excited about it. I have a Castle ice 75 for it. I am thinking I will try the Motro fly motor this go around. Is it a direct fit or do I need to buy some standoffs? I am going to use the recommended servos. Just looking for a tower coupon or something..lol
So Motro fly 4315-480 ?
Castle 75 ice ( external bec or straight?)
Hitec 5245's x4 or should I use a better rudder servo.

I have also had a ton of issues on my edge with the tail wheel working correctly. So I switched the one on my 60" edge to a Sullivan setup. I am hopeful it will work better.

I have soem sky lipo 30c 3300mah that I have been using but I may order some nano's or gen aces soon. Mine are a little older so I need to refresh.

The 15x7 is a good prop, but if you go to the Extreme Flight Power System thread, you'll see I participated in a subjective flight test of different size and differnt brand props. There is a lot of good info on that thread and can guide you to make your own decision. We used static tests in a controlled environment and also flight tests with an onboard Eagle Tree data collector and posted all of the data up on the thread. This information can help you make a decision that is right for your flying style. Some people prefer the 15" prop, I personally much more prefer the 16x8's performance.

The motor is good to about 80 amps. I have mine dialed back to 65amps as the power is more than enough and it runs cool. Unrestricted (not dialed back) the 16x8 pulls 83 amps static, and with the use of the Eagle Tree data collector in flight the 16x8 pulls 68 amps.

We had to purchase some nylon standoffs from Lowes and shaved them down to 10mm. The screws install directly into the installed blind nuts, so the standoffs are the only modification.

This is my dialed back Motrolfly 4315-480 with a 16x8 Xoar on 6S on my roughly 5 pound 60" Edge EXP.

The plane is designed around the torque 4016T/500 Motor.. As much as I do like Motrolfly products(run one in my 78" Extra), I truly feel it's important to stick with manufactures recommendations, in order to get the best performance from your Extreme Flight EXP series planes..

I have this stock setup in my 60 inch edge, But after seeing a buddies fly on the motro fly setup . I was sold. Insane pullout power. I thought I would try it and the ESc I already had.

I was debating on the 78 electric plane but I really like this 60 inch size.
