I do not seal gaps anymore unless it's a larger than normal gap.

I flew my 57 SC with and without sealed gaps and didn't notice a difference. I did seal the gaps on my EXP mostly for aesthetics.

The reason I seal gaps is because if there is a gap, it leaks high pressure air from where it's supposed to be (on one side of the wing) to where it's not supposed to be (on the other side) therefore cutting back on control response, precision, and authority. The only time gaps are a good thing is if you are installing slot flaps to your plane, which is, in short, another wing with a higher AOA to produce drag and extra lift. However, these EXP's have an extremely tight gap, so it's not necessary, but I did notice a HUGE difference on my Edge EXP when I sealed them after the 5th or 6th flight.

Sealing gaps saved my plane. I had broke every elevator hinge on my 48" Extra. I still have no idea how long it flew that way. I just happened to notice it one day. The blenderm was the only thing holding it together and the plane flew fine. To me, its a vital step not to be missed.

Yeah... that too.

Oh, BTW, only 7,000 more posts 'till RCG hits 20 mil! Daniel H. said that "must be on an Extreme Flight thread!" Let's see if we can make it happen! ... I'm not sure if there's a prize though

I got my Blenderm ready to slap on the Extra when I get it. By the way, the cheapest place I've found that you can get Blenderm is on 3M's website. 12 rolls for about $20 shipped. About $1.65 a roll. It's well worth it, you won't have to buy it again for a long time
