Quikie 15 head conversion to Voyager E

Well, I have finished the Quickie 15 head conversion and WOW what a difference. First, I will say it was a complete bolt on procedure. I put on the whole system from the swashplate up and I opted for the metal blade grip option so the whole head is now metal and rock solid. The first thing I noticed is the precision when setting the pitch curves, the blades responded very accurate to small pitch curve adjustments. The tracking was razor sharp and stayed that way, no more vibrations due to tracking at higher head speeds. Best of all I was able to get +13.5 to -13.5 degrees of pitch with absolutly no binding (not that I am going to use all of it). I am very happy with the change although costly but if you add up the cost of all the K&S parts to make a full metal head and swashplate you will be about the same price as buying the Quickie kit except you are still dealing with the crummy, binding head design. Now only if the metal tail parts will fit. I will keep my fingers crossed.

hey , yeh , I have 83 hours of PTO in the work bank , paid time off , he he but thats alittle over 1 week for me , also need 36 hours in a day too ,

hey , you can get the whole heli for 150 bucks from cyberheli , I dont know if they started making parts yet , but it want hurt to ask stephen , Tony

The head is working very well and the tail conversion is complete as of today and is rock solid. The best way to do it is to buy the whole heli and use the parts (224.00 for the electric or 249.00 for the gas at HHI). I am still in the testing phase but so far it has proven to me itís the way to go for cost and quality. The conversion was simple and repairs will be simple. The tail and head will now handle more rpms then the old. Currently I am at 2000 rpms and going to work it up a little more for that added 3D power. With all the mods and a huge Thunder power 8200-mah battery I am at 64oz 17oz of it is the battery. The heli stock is supposed to be 54oz with a 8cell pack which is much lighter then the Thunder power pack. I also do not have any of the mods to lighten this thing up like side frames etc. most of the extra weight is the batt. I would say that all the metal mods probably added about 3-4 oz. The head being most of it with the metal blade grips. But thatís the price you pay to get precision. Thanks, Eric

Which Thunder Power pack do you have?

An 8 cell 2000-3000 pack weighs around 16-18 ounces. The TP LiPo pack if its a 3s4p puts out more power (the power of 10 cells) and nearly 3 times more capacity - the added weight isnt from the LiPo pack at all. Id say a huge chunk of it is all those ally parts!

My Voyager weighs 54 ounces RTF with 4 mini servos and a 3s4p Thunder Power pack.

Any pics of the cool mods?

I don't understand....
From the pictures of www.quickheli.com Quickies ( 10 EP)
seem to be of much higher quality than Voyager..
especially CF and Metal version...

Wouldn't it be better just to sell Voyager and get a whole
new Quickie??

I cannot tell you if the Quikie is a better heli or not once completed. I bought this Voyager and have had problems from the start so it has been a quest to get it right. I like the size of it. I like the look of it. I am still working with it and all the new upgrade parts. As far as the weight of my heli it is not all from the new parts. Sub C cells are 1.5oz each times 8 is 12oz my lipo pack is at 17oz about five oz diff. The upgrades are about 3-4 oz and I am running a 401 and 9253 so there are probably differences in other areas of our helis but I can assure you that there was not a 10oz increase in wt. due to the metal upgrades. By the way I want to say that upgrade at your own risk we all know that things change after serious testing and I have had only little time to expieriment with these new upgrades. I will let you know what I find but everyone has different standards of what they expect from a model. Thanks Eric

What cells are you using? Standard sub C cells usually weigh 2 ounces (CP2400s, GP3300, 3000HV, RC2400, etc.). An 8 cell pack would weigh about 16 ounces.

My VE weighs up 58 Ĺ ounces with 8-cell 2600 on my flimsy postal scale; the 8-cell alone is 18 ounces. Still need to diet more to catch up with Jason :-)

hey , the eco shaft is smaller than the V , and yes the gas version from cyber heli for 150 bucks the head is the same Tony
