Build Log
600 Seahawk HLS 49 Scropions

I had to do this one. T Rex 600. RC Areodyne Seahawk fuse. graphics done by Callie's Graphics . So far the build is proceeding well. No major issues to report the quality is excellent. More to follow.

The N-28 is done so now all my attention will be focused on the Seahawk.

Got a little done last evening. A few minor issues but nothing that cannot be worked out.


Putting the final touches on this one. Very close to testing. Here's a rough video.

Seahawk

Hi!

I'm planning to build this bird as well.
I have some quistions.
The landing gears look nice, do the come with the seahawk? Are they retractable?
I see you also built the Augusta A-109. Amazing cockpit and pilots.
You will probably build something simualer for the Seahawk.
Where can you find something this nice for the Seahawk?
Keep up the good work, I will follow your tread.

Morten, the Seahawk is a variant of the Blackhawk the gear are fixed. They are included in the kit. You can find the kit and cockpit at RC Areodyne. They offer a couple of versions. I when with the cheaper one. Please feel free to jump in anytime with any questions. I might have this pretty close to first flight tests in the next 2 weeks barring any issues.

Does the boom go straight back to the tail or is there some sort of dropdown mechanism used to lower the boom angel?

Uses a flex drive cable. The first run had issues with the welds the V2 version dealt with that issue. The cable fits into the TT would be. Pretty slick It's supported in a few formers in the fuse to prevent vibration. You can see the cable drive in the last picture I posted.

Made some progress last night. The springs in the gear were just too soft bottoming out on just the heli's weight.. I used some fuel line tubing inside the spring which added a bit more cushion. I looked all over for springs with no luck so I winged it. Flex drive seems pretty smooth we spooled it up just for grins. The tail control rod needs some work. I used the Sullivan CF rod and need to brace one more spot in the tail then it should all be good. Now the down side. TAIL HEAVY. I see no way to do the cockpit at this time. The batteries need to go all the way forward to even be close to getting this to balance. I haven't given up yet but am going to proceed with test flying then deal with the cockpit later. Sometimes taking a step back yields new ideas.

Looks very nice. How has the flying been going?

How did you get that Mars light on the top of the fuselage, aft of the rotor, working like that? It looks like it has some rotation to it. Can you control the speed? How did you do it? Looks like a very nice build!

I have a very talented electronics freind who designed the lighting system on this one. He's the same guy that makes up our night flying rigs for our T-28. Everything is programmable though a board. I'll post more detailed pictures of the set up when I have time. Been on the road visiting the kids and grand kids. Thanks for the kind words on the build.
