Called Lost in OC this afternoon and had a nice conversation. He apparently works with the person who found the Twin Raptor in the water while surfing. It looks like he'll be able to speak to him tomorrow at work and hopefully we can make the connection.

Great little community we've got here don't you think!

First of all it looks like alot of aileron throw. I do experience ia diving action when hand launching the model but being aware of it pull a strong elevator action to counter act the initial dive. Looks like the model still pretty much survived.

What type of glue do you use on the fuselage

What type of glue have you had success with on the fuse??? I have tried to used 5 and 15 minute epoxie with a little PVC pipe welding cement mixed in. It works to a limited degree. Any recommendations please let me know what sticks really strong to the PVC fuse???

@Tom -I've yet to find anything that truly bonds to the pvc fuse. Not even Gorilla glue will bond to it. JB weld and also the weld-sticks (2 part putty in a tube) will harden like steel and stick fairly well, but under heavy strain I wouldn't trust it. 6 min. epoxy has failed me on several occasions. The fuselage is tough!

@Goldsworthy

Medium CA glue works wonders on foam. Great Planes makes the glue I use, it's available on Amazon. Anything else may melt the foam.

Perhaps a RC driven motor for the unit? Some kind of remote driven power unit to make it run fast and hard for a boost?

Looks like your using the PLUSH 40A ESC ??? Is that correct? I am using that ESC on my Easystar 2.

Is that a 28mm can motor or a 35mm size?

Thanks,
Tom
Yes, it's correct PLUSH 40A

The motor is the 35-36a with an APC E 8x6 (35/36 max Amps at WOT)

Ciao

Gtrick, thanks for the images.
I like how clean you kept everything.
I am almost convinced to change my servos with digital ones to support my Fy31Ap.
I agree that raptor, as any plane, are built to fly,
But I discovered the hard way that you must plan and implement any design having the crash on mind.
The above do not apply if you have trees that grow euros in your back yard!
; )

I really liked your setup. Keep us posted with the wii project.

Sakis

P.S after installing wheels on my raptor, I am now using metal wire skids on wings and fuse for take off. It was either that or a trolly. Hand launches belong to the past for me...

I forgot to mention that I also made a new elevator surface to support my raptor.
It is slightly bigger and stiffer that the original 2m version elevator I am using with my 1.6 raptor.

This sounds like a good Idea! at least untill a couple of better quality servos come your way!. I am new, but want the flaps as well. Can any one direct me to a video on how the flaps are cut out and conected to servos? THANKS!

BOY! if this happens to you I dont stand a chance!. We have a lot of hills here with sloping sides. I wonder if this plane could be tossed and launched easy seeing these hills? a good example is the hill in the extreme right of this photo.
