Received a bunch of new 4s packs and began testing. 90c Turnigy nano-tech 4s 5000mah and 6000mah run beautifully in this plane. To create space for the larger packs, I used a Dremel to carve the wood shelf back to the screws securing the elevator/rudder servos. The front shelf was removed completely. I stack a 3s 850mah nano-tech on top of the 4s packs for vtx/cam. Flight time on the 6000 is over 40 min. flying low, fast,and aggressive. These nano's pack a serious punch. Next flight I'll head to the clouds and attempt to squeeze 60min. out of the 6000.

your plane must weigh quite a bit, i was worried putting a 3000ma battery and stacking a 1000ma battery on top because of weight.. think i need to somhow increase elevator as its now not enough. Do you stack your batteries at the front ?

Yes the plane is heavier with these packs but it's balanced nicely with the way I have it configured. The 6000 sits under the COG and the 850 is velcro'd on top of it. A heavy motor (122g) combined with all the gear that's behind the COG offsets the weight up front.

After seeing how well it flies with the 6000mah, I would say it's possible to use 2x 4s 4000mah in parallel. Maybe more if you flew without the GoPro up front.

Does anybody know what the T shaped piece of black foam is for?

If you are in front of the plane looking back , is the motor suppose to turn clockwise or counter clockwise?..... and does the front of the prop face forward , or back?

Just putting mine together right now.

the prop should send the wind to the rear of the plane.
make sure prop is not on backwards...
the fatter edge of the prop blade should be next to front of plane.
the prop has an airfoil so the fat part of the airfoil should face front of plane.

Uh ya..... I understand the wind should go to the rear of the plane....
I did some amp and watts tests and the motor seems to draw 4amps more and produce 40 more watts with the motor direction turning clockwise if you are looking from the front of the plane backwards ...... now thats with the front of the prop facing forward, which is the wrong airflow direction.
I was just wondering if there was a proper way the motor was suppose to turn to maximize efficiency.

Maybe reversing the direction of the motor and fliping the prop would increase a little power?

If you're using the stock black 8x4 prop, the numbers on the prop should be facing the nose of the plane.

And after more testing....as it turns out, because the prop is only efficient that one way, that determines the motor direction, which is counter clockwise looking from the front of the plane back wards.

After a successful second FPV outing with my raptor i've made a few more mods to make it slipperier...

FPV cam mounted on the wooden tray inside and poking through the nose. Cowling chopped up to fit around the gopro. Hopefully will improve drag

Anyone got a spare set of raptor wings to sell me or know where i can buy some ? Lost rc link with the crappy rmilec uhf system and killed raptor into ground. The plane is souriously tough.. just need some wings now.
