Still struggling with motor choices for this plane, The motor i bought a few weeks ago for the plane is too big, it was the Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 3536 1200kv. I probably should have read the dimensions before ordering! Its going to cost too much to send back, so i'm going to keep it on the bench for another project.

I just want to get this bird in the air! - I also have a skywalker motor but i dont think thats going to fit either - 3536 1450kv.

I have just found another motor from an old wing i used to have - its a 2217-6t 1500kv motor. Will this work? it had an 8 x 4 prop on it before?

They are very different in size! pics below...

I dont really want to hack about with the motor pylon as i am not that good with modifications, so a straight fit would be best, beginning to think i should have ordered a RTF!

Which of the above 3 motors would you use? Or should i go back on hobbyking and order the 2836 1500kv motor as ive since discovered it may fit and be okay for the 2m version.

Advice if possible! Cheers
I agree that a 35 36 motor will fit. I fitted Turnigy Park 480 1320KV. (maybe I'll post images later)
But I suggest this: http://www.lowpricerc.com/product_in...kywalker-p-991

As you can see it is affordable,
it weights only 99gr,
it produces 1.128 gr of thrust using a 8x5 prop, (so you don't have to lift your tower to fit a bigger prop)
the prop is not stalling at 13.209 rpms,

and most importantly in WOT it consumes only 14Amps.
So it gives you almost half an hour of flight time in a 390gr 3.700mAh 4S battery.

Hi ,
The linked video proves how much Raptor is strong. Last Sunday, The clouds were so low and I could have a chance to fly in a clouds and also drill it up. Suddenly I turned panic and amde a sharp dive. The air speed reached to 160km/h and wings proved that they were stong eneugh.
2 yrs ago I used tot have a Skywalker and it coulnd stand to much softer dive. You can see also in my other videos.

The Falcon video is at the link. The cloud surfing is between 02:00 and 05:00
Enjoy

replaced cheap link with dubro mini kwik-link and threaded rod for 1/16
- remove pushrod wire from plane
- cut off cheap end and tin wire with solder
- have to use acid flux to make solder stick to wire..
- install tinned wire
- solder threaded rod to wire with 140watt soldering gun

EzUHF diversity receiver. Similar to a video diversity setup on a groundstation (I use RangeVideo's diversity rx) , the receiver will monitor and automatically switch to the antenna that has the best signal. RSSI for both antennas are shown on-screen with Immersion's EzOsd.

Thank you! I was going for a US drone color scheme and I'm pretty happy with the final product. I maidened this plane this morning with the Power 10. As expected, the plane is difficult to see when flying LOS against blue skies. But who s flying LOS anyway?

I lightly sanded all pieces, foam and pvc to prep it for 2 coats of plastic primer, followed by 2 coats of Krylon "Mountain View". Sanding and primer help tremendously with adhesion. Keep in mind that painting will create extra weight, to the tune of 20g or more depending on model size how many coats you apply.

Hi,
Just browsing the posts here and thought I mIght add my motor choice after trying a few.
I ended up liking the following and not mods needed.
NTM 2826A -1200kv on 8x4 prop with Turnigy AE 45a esc.I like long distance flying so set up with 2x2200mah 3S. Doesn't climb anywhere near vertical, but with Batts, Osd, flight controller, Vx batt and Tx etc I get 50mins cruising at 4-5amps and 20km+. The trade off is climb performance and speed.
I found finding much info hard so just went trial and error. Hope that helps someone.
