Help!
Cheap Tx/Rx for my 7 year old son

Greetings,
I am from Sri Lanka. I am using Dx7 and my 7 year old son is also using the same. Now I am thinking of buying him his own Tx. I am looking for some cheap Tx/Rx from USA. One of my friends will hand carry to me next month when he visits me.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hello,

Try here:

http://www.targethobby.com/rc-hobby-receiver-c-72.html

You can get a full range AR500 for $9.99, or a regular mini parkflyer AR6100e which I think is more than enough for you as I see from your flying style for $3.99. Stellar prices, but bear in mind these are clones which are reported to be as good as the originals.

I'd get a couple of them though, not just one.

And you can take off the casing from the mini ones to get a super light Rx.

Good luck!

Thank you for the info. I am looking for a complete system and not only the Rx.

I see. Well you can buy those cheap stock DSM2 Txs from somewhere, which will be perfectly compatible with these receivers. Good luck!

My friend is in USA and he has no idea of RC flying. If you can help me to find a US based retailer who sells DSM2 compatible, low priced TXs, it will be great.

Have him pick up a Parkzone Champ HBZ4900.

This will give you a DSM2 tx, a Champ receiver brick with servos, and a working airplane for under $100.
It all comes in a single box, so your friend doesn't have to keep track of different pieces.
It won't have the transmit power or feature set of your Dx7, but it's a perfectly flyable system.

Thank you TjW. My friend will get scared if I ask him to bring a RC plane due to the hassles he will have to undergo at the Colombo Airport here.

What do you think of Vapor tx?

Box for the Champ is big, will be hard to transport, although it is a good solution. But I don't like these embedded RXs too much, and think he will be better off with every component separate. Plus, the Champ is only 3 Channel.

Here is the TX I am talking about: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=PKZ3341

Maybe ask on micro classifieds, I'm sure someone will sell you one cheap ($20).

I recommend this $100 system. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SPM5510

It is full range and will fly the HZ/PZ BNF planes. If you only need the TX, the same tx is available for $60.

I don't recommend buying new if you are going cheap.

You can get a RTF TX for less than $20 (I'll ship 2 to your friend for $25) off the RCG classified.

Then just order a knock off DSM2 receiver from HK.

Don't have your friend buy anything if he doesn't know anything about R/C. People will take advantage of him.

You should buy it and have it shipped to his address.

That sounds good UNGN. What is the next step? I have enough and more HK orange rxs here with me. They just costs me $5/each.

Thanks in advance

So why did you want more Rxs? The stock Txs will complete your system perfectly!

I have one Dx7 Tx and about 10 orange Rx. But I want my son to have his own Tx/Rx. Right now we both cannot fly together. I have no money to buy him another Dx7. This is why I am looking for a cheap option for him. He has very good interest about this hobby.

That's wonderful, which is why I think you should jump onto the deal for the two TXs UNGN is offering. You don't need anything else, and your son will have a blast. The other Spektrum radios also seem to large for a 7 year old child's small hands. He can hold these the way he would hold the controllers for any gaming systems he may own.

Good luck!
