Congratulations Alex! Happy for you. Now you have to pass out cigars to all of us. Real Cuban ones too.

Congratulations Alex! Children really helped me to grow up and become a much better person. Embrace him, love him, eventually teach him and discipline him while continuing to love him!

Put a new male Deans on the ESC and did some static tests with my power meter. Used 3 different batteries and was unable to get same loss of motor power I experienced yesterday. Was able to hold full throttle for about 20 seconds. This is about twice as long as I ever do in the air. Average watts was 498.2, amps was 46.1, forgot to write down the volts under load. All tests were with APC 14x7E. Only thing to do is fly it again and pray a bit.

Did some checking on my connections and all my soldering work is ugly but sound. Then looked at the little spring tabs on the male Deans on my ESC and as suspected they are flat. Guess that is where the problem is. For now will have to solder on a new male Deans till I can switch to APP. Still need to do some static power tests on the motor, just have to wait for the wife to wake up. Everything looked good with the ESC when I had it on the Castle Link a short while ago.
They recommend 30A for 12-14 GA wire and 45A for 10 GA just based on size of wire/connector, and this is what I've been doing for the last 2 years or so. However one of the addicts said they use 45A for everything and if the wire is small they just double the bare wire back on itself before crimping which sounds like a great method to me as you don't have to deal with multiple ends. The 15,30, and 35A ends all fit in the same plastic housings and mate with each other btw.

I may start building the plane today, hopefully it is something I can handle relatively easily. Never built a plane before.

Take your time and follow the manual. If you got any questions ask everyone is very helpful Plus I built a few planes myself

Thanks will do

Actually I will start right now, did you use a soldering iron when cutting out the holes, or just an exacto knife? I heard the blades on the knife will dull quite quickly, but something about taking a soldering iron to the plane (albeit briefly) scares me hehe.

I just use a exacto knife, but check where your cutting twice before you cut. change blades they dull quick.
