I made a pretty sweet one out of your motor mounts, and anti vib mounts. I used the anti vib to give my gps mast some give in case of a roll over or I caught it in something. Darn thing sticks out like a sore thumb sometimes and try to minimize stress on it. My first reason for the top cage would be just a dead center mounted and sturdy GPS solution.

Oh snaps, Rusty's large x-mounts fit a 3DR GPS perfectly! Thanks for the tip.
At the moment I've just have the GPS attached to an accessory mount in albeit of a sketchy manner (pic attached).

I had this on the back boom of my hexa + setup, but my front boom got in my camera's view too much, so i went back to a hex v and took it off since it wouldn't be centered. I made another nice mount out of the same items that extends off the back "v" instead. Pics on next post:

The top could be designed to accommodate the different flight controllers' GPS designs. A "universal GPS mount/roll over cage" if you will. Inset on the top though to protect the gps and then the cage would protect whatever you decide to put under it from a roll over. I'd buy one :-)

I am in the process of tweaking a polycarbonate dome prototype that has a GPS sensor pocket underneath mounted using velcro. The prototypes that I have now were made for DJI F550 and F450 frames, but I also plan on offering the GPS pocket for the UAP1 frame as well. I just need to tweak the pocket size before I start offering them for sale, most likely sometime this weekend.

Polycarbonate is the ultimate in impact protection and well as being very light.

Thanks, but I'm sorry I don't understand exactly which part you are referring to? Maybe grab the picture and put a mark or arrow on it and then I can tell you. I designed some custom parts for this one that make almost exactly how I want it.

Sweet domes Ross! What if you had 4 or 5 small nylon (metal may mess with the gps?) fasteners with nuts to attach the GPS piece rather than Velcro? Might compromise the strength as you'd need a couple small holes in the dome to accommodate though...

Yes, those are aluminum standoffs from Traxxas. I can't remember what they call them though. I just did a search for Traxxas standoffs and they don't come up. But that is definitely what they are.

I think I would use red aluminum fasteners to hold the two together! That would work well. I'm going to let the user decide how to attach them.....

Those would look cool too! I might be makin an agl quad soon and this would be perfect. Heck, I have enough "spare" parts now, I might not even need to buy any!
