Hi Cruze64,
Here's the pics of the used fan I've got. The shroud has been crashed and repaired with fiberglass cloth wrapped around the outside to stiffen it up. It's pretty rugged, but it is usable. The rotor is complete and is in pretty good shape. Two of the blades have FOD, but overall, it's in good shape. There are only 6 of 14 short stators and stator bolts. There are both long stators and stator bolts and stator mounting flanges. The center body is in new condition and has never been used. Missing is the prop adapter and washer (rotor bolt and washer). A new fan from Tom Cook costs $250. I priced all the parts shown here and to replace them would cost about the same as a new fan. A new rotor alone would cost $145. I'm willing to let this one go for $125. If you want to buy everything shown, I'd be willing to let it go for $175. I've also got a NIB Dynamax. I could let that go for $225. Dan

Here's one of my glow Dynamax fans that I've already converted using the EJF adapter, a Scorpion HK-5035-630KV motor and Great Planes GPMQ4968 prop adapter. The rest of the parts are stock Dynamax.
I've run the fan without an inlet lip and it turns right around 27K rpm and pulls about 5100W of power. |

Yes. If you're going to use the stock center body, then you have to cut the back part off.
I had to cut a lot more off to accommodate the original motor I planned to use. (Hacker Electro-Turbine) I changed motors to the Scorpion HK4035-630, which is smaller, so it would actually fit inside the center body. But, since my center body was already bobbed, I just used it as is. The stock method for the EJF adapter is to bolt it into place using the long-shroud stator bolts. Although a lot of guys, like Bob Ruff, had successfully used just these to hold the adapter into place, I felt more comfortable adding some extra screws. The OD of the EJF adapter is also about 1/32" smaller than the inside of the Dynamax center body. To make sure the adapter was centered and fit properly I wrapped a 1/64" ply strip around the adapter. Like I say, a lot of other guys have successfully used this adapter without this extra work. I did this to make myself feel comfortable. If you're interested, I can post a couple of pics of my fan that show more details of the adapter installation. |
