this is a short build log of a FlyduSpider-Hexacopter.
I chose this frame, because the design is very nice and it helps with orientation also i have lifting capabilities. As FC i will use the Flyduino with MultiWii.
Sensors will be WM+ and BMA020. The adavantage of this FC is, i can use MegaPirate as well. So i can easily switch to a 9-DOF-IMU and GPS
I got this nice package from Paul:
alu-Booms in perfect length
one sensor bob
connectors for the Flydubution
First impression of the components were very good. Alu-Booms were perfectly cut and the plates were nicely made.
The batteryplate has four slot holes to balance the copter correctly.
6x Keda 20-26m
6x Hobbywing Pentium 18A (i know they're to big, but i got them cheap )
8" props: 4x black 2x green
battery: Turnigy 2450mAh 30C
At first i soldered the Flydubution. The connectors fit very tight into the holes of the flydubution. I needed a caliper to get them in.
Then i drilled the booms (no pics off drilling, sry) and mounted the booms to the centerplates with M3x20 and headlock nuts:
then i needed 10mm spacers, which i did not found. So i use this construction:
After drilling and mounting i soldered pins onto the Flyduino and the sensors onto the Sensor BOB:
Next step was to mount the motors (using 16 mm mounting holes on the kedas):
Nearly finished! Mounting the ESCs with wire straps to the frame and connecting them to the motors:
Connecting them to the flydubution was a bit tricky, but it worked out well. It was hard to postion the ESCs that the front remains free, so it looks a little bit crowded.
Here is the maiden flight configuration:
and here is the final version (unfortunatley i broke the topplate from paul, but i will repair it!)
Frame weight: 188 grams
Frame with motors: 576 grams
complete setup: still to measure (updated soon)
Probably sunday i am going to make a video of this "beauty"
and sorry for my bad english.

That beauty is crying for a hood, David!
Very good looking Hexa - do you plan to cover the electronix with a dome or something? And what about landing gears?
Can't wait to get mine from Paul...

Thanks David, really nice pictures.
Can send you a replacement plate, next week i will get new Flyduspider plates.
If you want to drill the holes yourself Kinderkram you can have as much as you want (almost).

Send me what you got and I'll show you what I did (almost everything)
But don't you expect such a nice build log. It's obsolete now... (anyway)

First i will only have the centerplates avaiable, i think for a reasoable price in matt black with a power distribution integrated in 1.6mm G10.
I may have anodized and predrilled arms later, but time will tell, i will offer a PDF with the meassurements of the holes too, so your local homedepot can help in the meantime.
The Flyduspider is ment for 8" props and does his job in this config very well as Norf and Warthox showed impressively.
Bigger Version will come, but be sure, he is fast, as Warthox told, its one of his fastest copters, only with 8", weight ratio is very good.
I hope i am not wrong there Markus, but you told me
