Here a few pics of my new never run Cox Thimble Drome Corvette that my Dad found for me at a garage sale about 10 years ago for $5.00. I'll post more pics soon.

Reginald, I wouldn't really know, but I would guess that you have one of the greatest and most diverse collections of model engines and related items, in the world! It is magnificent. And so is your website, very well done. It was a pleasure to go through it. And, I am insanely jealous!

Here's a pic of the Champion next to the Slecial
The 2nd picture is a conversion I am making with 2 engines

Does anyone remember the non-powered tether Midget racers offered by Union stations back in in the late 50's early 60's? I seem to think they were 3.00 with a fill-up!

All the kids in my neignorhood got one and we "raced" the tar out of them, swinging them on a heavy string, hardwood handle and wire bridal (all supplied). IIRC, they were similar if not same as Cameron powered type. they were cast metal and had rubber wheels. When top was removed the chassis appeared to a have motor mount and place for fuel tank.

I had a friend that kept EVERYTHING from our youth. I bet he still has his Wen-Mac P-39 AND his Gas Station racer!

Very cool!! I wouldn't mind building my own if I could find just the body without having to pay an arm, a leg, and take out a second mortgage on my house! LOL

Snaproll, For a custom, why not buy one of the Nylint replicas and put your own drive train in?

It would please me a bunch to see a Cox Champ whizzing around on You Tube. Looks like the power unit might simply snap into the underbody of the Special. I imagine that the weight of the power unit in ther rear helped prevent forward sommersaults.

The Ebay Nylint conversions looks great, wonder what final bid will be. I e-mailed seller to ask if replacement parts will be avaiilable from the maker.

I think I may still have that same Thimble-Drome Engine somewhere. Never ran it though.
