HK sells white boxed Coronas, I've beat on them good ... they're pretty reliable

+1 on the Corona. I have used Cyclone Power servos in my A-10 and Windrider Boeing 737 with no problems.

I was testing some colors today to determine which I'll be using for my A-10.
If you need colors that match the original ones I found out that these two are really close:

Vallejo Air Color 70.051 Bareley Grey (for the dark paint)
Vallejo Air Color 70.046 Light Bluegrey (for the lighter paint)

I'm not sure yet what I'm gonna use, I've ordered some extra samples for testing.

Is there anyone who can tell me what the maximum voltage is to operate the retracts on? Can the be used with 6V or 5V only? And how much current do the draw?

Tamiya XF-53 and XF-83.

I prefer Vallejo Model Air too, will have to note them

Had another look at the OEM retracts. And I am now contemplating replacing them after finding some damaged movement arms. (the one holding the motor and the one at the strut)

Had a quick search done on this thread and the Landers are quite popular but also seems to be quite prone to bending.

Any other suggestions?

E-Flite 25-46 Tricycle or Hobby King DSRs.

I have E-Flites fitted and they're perfect.

I was not expecting it to come with its own seperate BEC, and heard about all the problems with running power from the stock ESCs on these so I bought the Castle Creations 10amp to run with it, .
3 questions....
1. Is this ESC worth a Damn? or should i skip it and go with CC10Amp
2. Did yours come stock with an external BEC and that is what has failed in others or is this new because of the built BEC Failures built into the Stock ESC?
3. the Black wire looks clipped, if I want to use it, I should solder this right.

I was going to go with LIFe, but after having some problems with one RC Lander Retract and I think running over 6v, I will avoid and either use a BEC, and either connect to 6s batteries or Connect BEC and Seperate LIFe batt.

I cant get the E-Flite retracts, so I've ordered the Lander ones. (Hope this bird lands gentle )

The OEM BEC seems to be fine on mine. Only the RED wire should be disconnected. Looks like you'll have to strip off the yellow heatshrink and figure out where the WHITE & BLACK wires go to on the circuit board if you want to reuse this BEC.

I would just go with the CC 10amp bec.

Thats alot of batteries. I will probably go with just 2. 1 1000mah one for receiver and such and then the 6s. With all those bateries, what size you running for mains. Though I'm betting you went with different than stock fan setup, to push that all that added weight around the sky with any authority.

I read somewhere that everyone should be balancing the stock fans in all ARF EDFs. I've never done this before on any of the smaller EDFs I've flown, and I'm not sure I should start now. Is it completely necessary with this one or can i skip this? And If I need to, where is there a good instructions on how to do this with fan units. I'm very familiar with Prop balancing and have a setup to work with that.

Maj. Tom, if you want to save yourselve all the trouble and may be even your model, you might consider buying some good pre balanced fans. I bought some Wemotecs myselve.

Which ones did you buy, and can I leave the Stock Motor and ESC?
