Perfect Mike! !! I agree that maybe the next step to all these threads is to leave the vendors completely out of it! Im looking forward to this thread.

I've mentioned it in other threads but I'll say it again here to kick this thread off. My build will be 12s, CC-hv 40a esc's, CC BEC-pro, Neu 1110/6D (1400kv) motors, & Velocity-RC WM400 edf's. Predicted AUW is ~6.1lb after airframe reinforcement. Calculated static thrust is ~9lb iirc.

I bought the RCLander retracts & I'm not really happy with them so I'm ordering some carbon tubing to reconstruct them lighter.

I'll be ditching the steel LX pushrods for carbon rods to save weight. I'll also be ditching the LX canopy & eject components for a very light, simple, static cockpit. I'll be using Futaba S3114 servos (7.8g ea).

I've also purchased a dynamic EDF balancer to get the best sound & performance from the fans.

If its not already clear, I want this to be one bad-ass flier. No hangar queens for me.

P.S.- Holy crap the Neu motors just took a huge price jump! Good thing I got my order in before that. The 1110/6d used to be $135, & now its listed as $162!

The E Flights Retracts are working out very well so far for me. A little heavier than I would have liked but bottom line they work.

Count me in. Here we go. After about 5 flights, I'm getting some intermittant, loud clicking noises at about 3/4 throttle. Getting ready to crack her nacelles open and take a peek. Sounds to me like something is out of balance. I'll report on findings. (fan/shroud are stock.) Not getting it during run up on ground though? M-mmmmm?

Yep. The guys @ CC talked me in to it. If it works as well as they say I can't imagine doing it any other way again. We'll see.

Keep in mind, I'm looking @ a single 12s 2700mah. 860g. About the same run time & weight as the 6s 5000mah packs some folks were talking about using.

I'm really interested in this jet and I wanted to ask u guys if banana hobby's electronics,fans,esc,& motor r crap? Thought about buying the rtf version but I see all of u going with the airfame only and adding everything. If so what r u guys going with and where can I get the airframe only version.

In a nutshell no. I'm flying mine stock short of the retracts.

So Mike u like the banana hobby setup besides retracts. Im glad to hear because that price would def fit in my budget. I was just wondering because i get mixed reviews of BH. I hear their electronics aren't up to par and customer service isnt that reliable. Did u immediately change the retracts?

The oe retracts are completely unreliable for several reasons. Other then that the stock kit will fly just fine. Its primary advantage is that its kept pretty light so it makes for a slow, floaty, well ballanced plane. There's a lot of performance to be gained by upgrading all the other stuff but a lot of guys added way too much weight in the process, ruining the best part about this plane: its wonderful handling.

BH sells just the airframe but it sells out frequently because most aren't buying the RTF kits. The airframe only does include the fans, retracts. No motors though.
