Question
Wing wire rigging.

I'm needing some help on what to use for wing wire rigging for my N-28 Bipe. I've heard of the cotter pin method but was curious to know what others have used.
I need to build as light as possible. The wings are detachable so whatever I use needs to detach either at the wing struts or on the fuse. Preferably at the struts. I don't like the idea of leaving the wires hanging from the fuse if possible. This is my first wire detail on a plane. Appreciate it if I could get some ideas on some lightweight hardware.
Many thanks.

Take my advice, you're not going to get the kind of help you need here. That's evident. No help after a week.

if it's not functional, i use elastic thread. it can be pulled tight but is forgiving if you have a less than spectacular landing. if it starts to get loose or sag, cut it at one end and retie.

Yeah, the guys are crawling out of the woodwork to help him. He will do a LOT better over on the Scale Electric Planes forum, believe me.

Every link in Post #3 was to an off site forum! RC Groups has all the answers he needs.... why send him offsite to another forum?

Suggest you make the flying wires as working wires.

You will appreciate it in the event of a bad landing (crash).

I made mine with 0.030 inch dia stainless steel wires soldered to little 2-56 treads at one end and soldering inserts at the other end.

You can then connect this to threaded clevis and adjust each wire for the suitable tension

Hello icarus46,

In case you decide to make them functional I will look up my hundreds of pictures and post how I did it.

Come back to this thread for my post as soon as I find the pictures.

That will be tomorrow as it approaching midnight here.

Thanks Zor. Just a few pics will do. I'm mainly interested in the hardware pictures. I wasn't sure what you meant about soldering inserts. I've never heard of them. I need to be able to disconnect the wires easily for transporting the plane. Du-bro makes turnbuckles but these are for 1/4 scale planes. Would be nice to find something in 1/6 scale. Appreciate your time.
