Put a clear tape on the wings that stays there. Then the everyday tape does not affect the paint. This is only a "problem" on wings. It is different on different colors because of the paint chemistry. Moulds are painted early morning and first layer is put in same day.

Any tape will do but some are better in rain/wet surface.

Thank you for the explanation, Jojo.

In my Pike the problem is both in the fuselage and in the wings. I just put Scotch Crystal tape on fuselage, wings and tails. I will put this tape on the new Pike as soon as I receive it.

Cheers,

Alvaro.

I usually put clear tape on fuse/wing for same reason. Never had a plane that tape didnt, sooner or later, pull off paint to some extent unless surfaces protected. Weather forecast looks favorable for Tues out at Davenport, will head out there tomorrow for 2nd session with Precision, this time with ballast.

Nice pictures and color compilation Pierre, always a spare one.
I'm personaly not so keen on the nowadays popular 2 coloured fuses, possibly they are helpful visually?

Cheers
Thomas

Precision at Davenport

Good conditions yesterday at D. capping big time, wind howling in lines. Precision does real good with ballast, doesnt seem to affect turning performance one bit! No flying pics as I was alone. Lift was good but turned north later in afternoon making for challenging conditions. All in all though a great day out there.

Had a day of really good conditions with the Precision yesterday.
Between 9-12 m/s, quite cross winds from the right of the slope.

The model was flown with 850 grams of ballast. What can I say that
haven't already been said?

I can confirm this is a dream to fly plane, holds the line incredible well, stable,
the same willingness to turn, even ballasted and superb enery retention.

Only one thing to put the finger on, while CG at 101mm, some down elevator has to be dialed in, with the 850 grams of ballast at approx. same CG (100,8mm)
it need the same trim. So I suspect that more weight do not change this, only CG changes when ballasting in different configurations. Possible solution to increase angle of attack in the tail slightly. Or is it so that when CG goes backwards, when ballasting Cg to 102-104,
the tail is neutral? I will have to test....

Pike Precision at Bokn (4 min 24 sec)

It's either been foggy, rainy or not enough wind to fly this! Summer has never been my flying season. Spring, fall and early winter is when we get wind but, hopefully soon

some pictures taken the same day:

https://picasaweb.google.com/1082614...34/ColDeMenee#

the slope is few kilometers from the Mont aiguille:

For the anecdote, a pilot landed his plane at the top, after the army prepared the landing zone.

Wikipedia says: "On 27 August 1957, the stunt pilot Henri Giraud landed a Piper J-3 Cub on the summit, after creating an 80 m (260 ft)-long, 20 m (66 ft)-wide runway using materials and men lifted to the summit previously by helicopters. In the following 18 years, he staged a further 51 landings on the summit before his final landing in 1975, many carrying paying passengers, and often made using skis"

On another page, an austrian modeller, and alpinist, climbed the mountain and flew his 2m glider from the top.

cheers,

Pierre
