Hi Pierre,

you are right, the dimensions of the ballast for the joiner are 93*10*10mm and for the wing ballast 54*12*25mm. This is the ballast set you can order from Samba now.

59.3 dm**2 is the wing area and I have calculated the wing loading in the ballast table with that since I find it makes sense. According to the FAI rules you have to add the tail area which gives 4.889kg MTOW to stay below the 75g/dm**2 wing loading limit for the Pike Precision.

Hi Larry, thanks a lot for the JR Servos - they are great!

Cheers,
Benjamin

Precision winch maiden schedule changed to Sunday at Poway in case anyone was interested in seeing it fly.

Cheers.

Bummer Mike.
Good luck Sunday as well.
Warren and I plan on making it to Encintas the following Sunday, I hope that you will have the plane with you for us to look at, if you attend...

Hand toss and bungie launch maiden went very well today! Thank you to Steve Condon for performing flawless throws for both the first ever hand toss, and the first ever bungie launch. The glider was very docile, and flew very predictably. Lift was pretty good in Encinitas at noon today, so there were a few low level thermals for the taking. And take we did. The Precision handles very well in slow turns with the wings quite steeply banked. No noticable tendancy or desire to tip stall, and I was holding a lot of elevator, in some instances with very steeply banked wings. I am very happy with the handling of the Precision for low level, light lift manuevering.

Looking forward to some full power mono launches this weekend.

More later. Sorry, no time to stop to take photo's so you'll have to wait for Sunday's pics to be posted.

Cheers.

Mike

Well, I didn't say that I used full launch camber, and an aft-ish looking towhook location did I. Nope, sure didn't. Set the hook forward in the slot, add a touch of up trim, ask Steve for a nice straight, wings level throw, what could go wrong? So while I would like to say, yep, Ballsy for sure, it is really just a matter of knowing the limits, and not being anywhere near them for the first launches off the bungee! Heck the glider only touched the ground twice out of about 7 flights. All the rest were hand catches. Did I say it handles very well?

Cheers dudes.

I like the no tip stall when going slow, can't wait to hear how it handles going fast. Ian

bungee

Conditions look lifty, sunny with mild air temps. Fun day at the field is my assumption. Can't wait to hear flight reports.

I SAW IT!!!! Clean plane. Flies like it looks. Very smooth and crisp. I bet JW likes it. Very clean planform and tip design.

I am looking forward to Mike flying it a bit more and us getting together for a real practice session on a measured course. The numbers don't lie.

Nice paint job Mike, and nice build Samba.
