Thanks Guys,

I was really happy with it and relived that it flew the way it did.

Thanks Rick,

I couldn't have done it without your help, everyone here, and the guys in France flying theirs at the 61mm CG.

Luckily, I had flown my VQ KA-7 and it had the same nose up behavior once you got above 1/2 throttle so I was ready this time. I could mix that out but I kinda like it now that I'm use to it.

I'm flying on 2 3s 2100 Hyperion packs and I still was at ove 4v per cell when I came down. So I could have done a couple more climbs to altitude with no issues. I'm running a Castle BEC as I learn the hard way on my KA-7 that a "glider can still load the system tot eh point of a brown out without one. I got luck and save it but it was nerve racking.

I run a BEC in all my big electrics and now powered gliders. Let that ESC burn out..... I'll still have some control.

Now I need to find a cool scale arf thermal ship that I can high start or tow. this non-powered flight stuff is addictive and soooo graceful to watch

I'm thinking a Minimoa. People seem to like the World Models for all it warts. There are a couple others out there. For now it's back to warbirds. Building season is starting to well..... Start.

I hope to fly the Grob again this Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesdays are warbird day at my home field where I shot he video. Wednesday I'd like to take it to a glider field to show it off. We'll see.

Joe, thanks for all of your updates.

I bought the Fox MDM from HL and received it a couple of days ago. I was surprised with the good quality but will most likely change the motor and ESC to a Hyperion and Castle ICE 75.

The fuselage is a heavy build compared to all the other composite gliders I have. Especially the tail seemed quite heavy so will have to start thinking about some usable nose weight.

Too bad that there is little or no information on the net about this model.

Good luck with your flying and I can tell you that here is no better flying experience than with a glider that has been towed to a nice altitude. I think the Minimoa is a good choice!

Hey Guys,

Just a quick update to my new fixation, scale sailplanes....

I found a Minimoa that floored me and I just pushed the buy button It's a Minimoa with a 3.4m wing span and a double seat canopy !!! Wayyyyy Coool !!

This will go in the basement for next year but I had to grab it before it disappeared as I can't find it anywhere else and can't tell who makes it. Maybe Royal-Model but I'm not sure....

It will have a tow release..... Maaaaybee a motor.... Not sure. I'm a flat lander so a motor would make it practical. But I would be sure to be able to take the folder off of it for a more scale outline when being towed.

Although this is a model I would have a hard time sticking a prop on...

Keep um flying...

Joe

$560 shipped from Germany.

Scale sailplanes are addictive. I just got myself a 4m Club Libelle but no motor on my airframe.

My Grob pics

I do seem to have trouble posting pics, but trying again here. These were taken prior to disastrous first flight, but now repaired and ready again at 61 mm CG. - - - Deni

Deni,
Great looking plane. What happened on the first flight? Tip stall/spin?
Hopefully the cg move will help.

Looks Great Deni,

Good luck on your re-maiden!!

Be ready for the Grob to zoom up nose high as it gains speed with the throttle on at high throttle positions.

Once the nose gets to about 40-45 degrees use down elevator to control its climb. Having no down thrust makes the Grob really zoom up under throttle.

Be sure to let us know how it went.

To cancel the pitching with zero thrust setups I mix the throttle with the elevator to control the pitch. Your flight will feel more under control without the crazy pitching of the nose.

Does anybody know what the difference in the Grob HL sells and the one Espirit sells? Same question for the Fox mentioned in this thread as well? I am interested in getting one but didn't know if maybe Espirit has improved versions based on the cost difference.
