It's not difficult to determine KE's release schedule. Here's a post that you may find interesting.

Anyway, its my first sim, so I'm looking forward to it.

You could have it within 2 weeks. Certainly before December, I'd bet.

2 weeks is good I guess.... considering....

at least if I had an older version, at least i'd have SOMETHING to practice on.

So, getting RF6 as a newbie, vs "basic".... is this a "good thing"?
I was thinking i'd get burnt out or bored with basic, not that i'm into online gaming, but what the heck, even if I suck, I'm improving my skills (right?).

ugggg... cant "I" just get downloaded like those guys on the Matrix...

If you can swing the full verion (RF6), you won't regret it. If money is extremely tight, Basic is a good sim, but you won't be able to expand it with new content. Someday, you'd want to.

I feel like it will fit the need for me, I wanted something good, I've seen so much about brandxx being only a $30 program, thats just as good.
I could have gone there, or several of them for that matter.

I want to improve my hand-eye coordination, save me some crashes, and be able to play around with it and try new things, only crashing electrons.
Something "realistic enough" (for airplanes) that fly pretty close to the real thing.
Hopefully setting it up with moderate winds and crosswinds, (can you get gusty winds or is it just a constant at x-speed?) I'll have to play with it.
flying with NO wind is no fun.
I want to be able to land "dead stick" with the wind if I had too...

Our field has a crosswind runway, so I may never "need" to land with the wind, but trying on a sim first would be best for me. (bla bla bla i'm ramblin)

There are multiple vatiables that are user-configurable for the wind. Gusting, like you say, swiveling (for lack of a better word) direction, different windspeed at different altitude. It's not just constant. It can be configured to feel very lifelike.

SWEET... Thanks Jeffpn.

Really looking forward to RF6... as a sim virgin, I am sure I'll have questions on my settings.

I played with a flying game many years ago.... but the dealing with a keyboard for all the different "functions" even with a joystick... SUCKED.
(throttle up/down, gear still down, oh crap).
Having a transmitter with all the inputs in your hands, where you dont have to seek and poke shift^ to do WHATEVER...

anyway....
Thanks

RealFlight 6 will start shipping either tomorrow or Monday.

It features a total re-write of the helicopter physics as well as many other tweaks to make it the most realistic RC flight simulator ever.

You can now even rewind your flight to the point a maneuver started to go bad and start flying again from that point.

There are lots of really cool new features that you are going to enjoy.

realflight.com for more information.

I think the smoke rewrite is very nice. Overall, the sim performs much better. Searching aircraft by typing the name is a long-awaited feature!! Great job on RF6! I like it!!
