I've been trying to avoid forums lately. Partly because I didn't have much to say but mainly because I wanted to actually get some building done instead of talking about planes.
Anyway Tuesday night the thermostat blew up on the hotbox and the weather here is so cold that nothing is going to go off. So here I am back on the keyboard after spending a spare few hours tweaking my Luna 2.
I've got to say I'm loving this plane. All the stuff I've learnt from previous builds is in there and combined with FuFix external support bearings the surfaces are pretty damn fine. What really nice is that the extra size over the beloved Bird60 means that I'm getting better feedback compared with the twitchy little monster. Diff setting is a lot easier for me to read and I'm getting a better feel for snap flap. In the light stuff it pops up well and with just under a kilo of lead on board it really tears it up. I've had half a dozen sessions with it now and find something new every time, I'm even trying moves I've never thought of trying before. In short I actually think I'm learning to be a better flyer with this machine. Maybe the next Needle100 will last a bit longer.

Plus the Luna has the white nosecone essential for F3F

Cool. We'll slowly but surely break you from that 60" habit...

That's quite funny John. I'm actually about to start in on a little regular 60 much like the Bird, as I'm after something to put the simplicity back into it all!

LOL yes, it's one of the 2 servo wing versions that the Habe's briefly did with RCRCM. Had it sitting on a shelf for far too long. Should be fun.

Nah, you got it all wrong - remember, an experienced pilot said recently that spoilers are better than flaps... (to others: in joke!).

Yay! Four hours flying time at the Poyntz today. Light winds for most of it but it was very consistent so I was able to play with snap flap and get that dialled in. Only problem is a lack of a landing zone now as the nice sheepy field is now packed with black evil looking bullocks. So land at the bottom of the hill was the order of the day.
Six times up and down the hill in the end.
