Scott

Fuse could be ready. Bob said he would cut the wings and stab when I have ribs ready.

Maybe in a few days.

Looks good Steve. The dihedral angle is -10 degress on the wings. Looks really cool, but quite unique to orientate in the air as by the time you see the far wing panel in a turn you're likley about to be banking it over too much.
Still really cool shape in the air. Keep going! What do you expect your auw weight to be in the end? What power size?

A 90mm set up. I have a 90mm shubler, which is very light. Depending on cell count/size, I'm thinking 7 to 8lbs. LE flaps and the air brakes may add a bit. But I'll lay it up light and strong.

The fuse can be made to carry a turbine also. I have a Wren 54MKIII, that would be perfect for this size. Even a 100mm edf. Many options really.

I will make 3 of these at the same time. All EDF.

The first one will be for CG and throws, so it will get a bunch of Chinese power systems and a beating I'm sure.. I also have an assortment of 90mm fans. Change Sun, RCLander, Scott's Wemotec, Hoya....

Now I have to finish it.

I will get my wing/stab ribs made today and have Bob cut the cores. He's on vacation till Thursday.

Of all the times to be in china.

We're suppose to fly Tuesday. Forecast is 102 degrees. Early!

I figure the airfoil will be something like the yellow F-16 I have apart. i'll trace the root and tip then cut my cores. Will not put in washout at this point. Also Bob strongly suggested molding in the fairing. So the fairing will be molded in.

F-16 dont need much washout due to the awsome vortex lift generated by the LEX's. if the Avons F-104 has washout out i would copy that ,the 104 will need all the help it can get ,wing tanks add lift to 104's too

I agree with AS and would suggest reconsidering building the wing without any washout. Even though they are very stubby, a little will still be helpful. plus you're cutting these cores from foam so that is the easiest type of wing to add washout to. I haven't looked close enough at my Avonds F104 to see how much is in there but I bet it has some, I do know for sure it's not a scale airfoil. I know my Avonds F-16 has quite a bit...it also has a slight undercamber which helps it fly so well as slow speeds too.
I read somewhere that the 104 gets 2/3's of its lift from it's fuselage....guess that's obvious with how small the wings are.
