Here's some links. I think mine is posted in there somewhere.

The "shorts bunching" maiden flights that seem to be reported by some seem to be the result of folks that don't know how to properly balance an airplane. I was really wound tight for my first flight trying to prepare for the worst and this plane is a pussycat in the air. The tracking and handling on take-off was also a pleasant surprise. You do have to mind the nose after touchdown. I once scraped the bottom of the cowl almost all the way down the asphalt runway once.

I still have one on backorder with Hobby Lobby from when they were closed out last year. I don't know the actual status or if they are attempting to get more. I almost bought the 72" version then too. I'm thankful I didn't because of the new Maxford 105" Tiger Moth

I recommend a tiny cheater nosewheel, discreetly let into the bottom of the cowling. I'm installing one on the bottom of the hull of a non-scale flying boat that will also have interchangeable tail-dragger wheels.

Mine is built and ready to maiden. Does anyone know where you are supposed to set the CG???

I'm flying mine with the CG about 4" back from the LE of the center top wing with the stab level. CG checked with my fingers.
Start at 3 3/4" back and go from there. Working the CG back is a lot easier than working it forward.

FWIW. I also put a bit of washout in all four wing panels. 1/8"-3/16" get the job done.

Also keep an eye on the screws that mount the cabane struts to the fuselage. The wood screws called for in the instructions kept backing out (or maybe they were actually tearing out) on me. I installed 2-56 tee nuts inside the fuselage and used machine screws. I wound up replacing all the strut mounting bolt/nut assemblies with 2-56 tee nuts and machine screws since I had to order 4 for the cabane struts, ordering 16 didn't cost much more.

I already replaced the strut and carbane bolts with a locknut version. I did not think to check the washout, though - will do that before I maiden her. I really don't want to crash this one, so not in a hurry for the maiden. Should be sometime this week though. Waiting for pretty calm winds for the first flight.

Well I got in the Maiden Flight on this bird this morning. I could tell when she lifted off she was a touch tail heavy and wanted to go right. So I took her to about 200 ft and trimmed her out. Man I was nervous about this maiden and when she went up tail heavy I was REALLY nervous.

All went well, though. got her trimmed out and just flew some easy eights to get used to her. She is a lot faster than I was expecting. Landing was pretty smooth - just a small bounce and she rolled out fine on the grass.

Looking forward to when I can get relaxed and really enjoy this plane. She is stunning in the air. Just very thankful she came home in one piece today.

Question - Do I need to worry about the pull-pull wires loosening up while she is in flight?
